we start 4 ymca size players once you put the center in high screen roll. you have a big man diving to basket vs 4 smaller players like what happen in utah like what almost got baker and cotton hurt vs lynch. utah big man didnt score 1 basket in the post.

Blueprint to Beat the Shockers

Not sure what you're trying to get at. You have 4 lifetime posts which seem to be aimed at either a) defending Darius or b) criticizing 2 or 3 of the best guards to play at WSU in the last 30 years. Bottom line is Darius needs to play more. To do that he needs to play defense without fouling - both he and Shaq have the same problem and it hinders the team. If we're going to make some noise in the big dance, those guys have to play, not sit on the bench.

The offensive blueprint to beat the shockers is to have some success with perimeter players shooting/driving.
Inevitably, the Shockers will start over playing everything trying to create "pressure;" unfortunately, this allows confident opposing players more room to drive creating defensive chaos for the Shocker’s defense (over-rotating, back door opportunities, open shooters…). After consistently scoring, WSU will inevitably fall into some new zone scheme that looks less organized than a fraternity team playing for a third place trophy.
For years, I have wished WSU had a soft man to man we could throw out there. Similar to Turgeon’s no uncontested buckets, but if they can make a somewhat guarded jump shot - so be it. Our pressure works against bad teams with average guards, but it can work against us with talented guards that are in rhythm. We just don’t zone enough to make it very effective.
Regarding DC – I think he legitimately gives up more than 3 inches. Those taller players have been playing short players their whole life so he isn’t going to bother them and is going to have one hell of a time scoring consistently against better than average players that have a dominate size. We wouldn’t expect Ron or Fred to hold players that are substantially bigger in the post….
