  • WSU at SOUTHERN ILLINOIS PREDICTIONS AND PREGAME DISCUSSIONS

Here's the deal. This method of picking the Shocks to win every game has really been working out nicely for some of us. Especially last Season in which Vegas could not even stay as accurate. A portion of the modus operandi of the Shockers is playing the role of Road Warriors. The Shocks fought hard on defense tonight while holding one Redbird who is a solid scorer to no points and fouling out their big man Lynch. Now as we move on to Carbondale, we need to also keep our turnovers below 10 as we usually do. No Valley road game is a cake walk and let's hope FVV gets that ankle mended asap. I like Barry Hinson but we have to win this road game too. The Shockers can go 1-12 in 40 with the best of them in this here Valley no matter what skeptics believe. We need to get this win, go home and beat Evansville, then win in Terre Haute, and then the showdown at 21st and Hillside with UNI for our Senior Night Surpass and Ship. Each game will be taken seriously as we are in the hunt for another Valley Championship that we do Not want to share. In this case, caring is Not sharing so we win each game, one by one.

This game is Tuesday night, Feb. 17th at 7pm on Cox 22. Concerning Fred's ankle and the next game he is quoted in the Eagle today saying "I'll be fine, I've got to play." Even so Coach Marshall wants to wait and see how swollen it is and Coach said in the same article "I hope that ankle is not too swollen." Last night FVV had 15 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists and a steal. This article also mentioned FVV is 21-1 overall versus Illinois teams. It make me wonder how hard these various teams recruited Fred. I remember Mr. Baker battling a weak ankle last Season an am hopes Fred's ankle gets well soon. Young men heal faster but a rolled ankle can take a duration of time to fully heal. When our manager went out on the floor to help FVV when he aggravated it again, 3G was forced to sub him out and back in at the end of the game and did not seem to happy about that?

If FVV is able to go:

        WSU 73,
        SIU 52

If we rest FVV to accelerate the healing:

        WSU 64,
        SIU 55

Molly jabali is wise in not taking such at team for granted and Barry can indeed coach. How does the Shockers win games on the road against such teams? Last night, Mr. Knight who lit us up at 21st and Hillside for 24 points did not score last night in 30 minutes of game time. If I recall, they out rebounded us by 10 here and we got them by 14 rebounds last night. Now as we move on to play at S. Illinois, we do so knowing that this will be no cake walk. I really hope FVV gets his ankle well and trust we will deal with that issue wisely in this game. Baker has done a good job filling in at the point guard slot and Henderson and Holland are eager to help. Just win Shocks and we will get back home to play next Sunday and rest up some during the long week and regroup for Evansville. Could it be that our Shocks with 8 new players have not began peaking yet even though we are still improving as a team? Stay tuned. Right now, we are 23-3 and 13-1 which is not chopped liver.

If you state that is a "trap game" over and over, is it still a trap game?

Barry can coach but his players still need to make the plays.

SIU's RPI is 283. Barry can coach some but he hasn't done any of it this year, at all. Hugely disappointing season for a team that should not be this bad.

I hope we continue the recent trend of faster tempo and pressure defense. This team is poor and we should expose it.

A physician called into a radio show and said:
