Tekele getting 1,000 points might be more impressive than whatever ungodly number Ron could have after next year. Here's why.

Two years ago, when Creighton came to Wichita for the final time, Tekele was O-fer from the field (0-10 to be exact). In a stretch of games, his shooting was so bad that Gregg challenged him, pointing out that teams were sagging off of him and daring him to shoot. For a guard, that should be an ultimate insult. When your jump shot is broken that badly, there's only one way to fix it: get in the gym after hours and get shots up. That's exactly what Tekele did, and his shooting improved. His three against Ohio State held off a Buckeye rally and sent Wichita State to the Holy Grail of the Final Four.

Hard work, ladies and gentlemen, is what will send Mr. Cotton into the 1,000-point club. So proud of him!

It would be just like him... Classic TKO... To hit a game winning three to beat UNI next Sunday to land AT 1,000 on the dot for his career.

Or better yet, a steal, a fast break and a jam to put it in the deep freeze. Who am I kidding? He will hit 1K against MoST by the end of the first half.

I hope he has more than 3.67 points per game next weekend

His shot looks great from 30 feet.

That is a great point about the work he did on his shot. I hadn't really thought about that / appreciated that.

He can score from 30 feet in two ways, the high arching shot or the one bounce slam!

So, Tekele is at 1001, correct?

                          Oh, thanks.

Congratulations Tekele. More importantly thanks for bailing us out today in the process.
