Personally I think they need to axe the call-in aspect of the show, considering there are legitimate alternatives they already use as additional avenues to gain questions. It will allow Mike and the producers to do some scrubbing of the questions up front and Mike can do what he does best and eloquently frame a question in a much more managable light than someone not in the business would do. Also nix the possibility of having some drunk fan or some imbecile call up and make absolute fools of themselves. It's a waste of air time to hear people sputter all over themselves with ummms ahhhhs and uhhhhhs.

It's easy to understand why Marshall, who clearly does not suffer fools gladly, gets cranky with some of the silly questions callers ask him. Still, doing the show is part of his job, and he gets paid nicely for it. Does anyone here believe that Marshall would be happy if one of his players, especially a high profile guy like Baker or FVV, blew off one of his obligations the way Marshall does the caller aspect of his show? And who knows -- maybe something like the reported Shaq incident with a ball boy might be less likely if the coach set a better example of taking the high road even with underinformed callers.
Looking at the big picture, if WSU basketball has to have a problem, this is a pretty good one to have. And every coach. no matter how good or successful, has his quirks and flaws. But it would be nice if Marshall could find a way to lighten up and be more gracious, or at least to insist on a format where he's less likely to get annoyed. To make clear where I stand, I'm now going to go vote for Marshall in the Infiniti Challenge, and I hope to vote for him as Shocker coach yearly for the next 15-20 seasons if that promotion survives long enough. But I still wish he'd do a better job of differentiating himself from guys like St. Roy -- or Marshawn Lynch, dw.

19 & 3 and the critics are out and about criticizing the mans competitive nature. It's because losses are not suffered lightly that he reacts with frustration at times. We've had the "blue bloods" who saw no opportunity to play with the Big Dogs and had no answers to why they couldn't develop and sustain a successful program, taking the first opportunity they had to jump ship (anyone remember Turg's shows), I'd rather have a coach with a combative attitude who believes the program can run with the "big dogs" than one ready to jump ship at the first sign of success and HCGM has certainly shown his loyalty so lighten up guys

I just listened to the podcast of the show. I had read most of this thread before listening. We have some thin-skinned posters. I have heard coach be short with callers in the past I didn't hear anything on this show warranting the kind of criticism on this thread. I concur with "lighten up Francis!!"
