I truly believe there is a "freshman Wall" that kids hit in mid-January. The toils of practices and travels seem to take their toll. Here is a recap of Brown's season and look at the last 5 games.
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:
--------------------------------------- Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare: "We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said: "That's the definition of a stool sample."
Kelly - will be a solid 4 year player. He needs to work on his shooting to be a big time player.
Nurger - could have used a red shirt. Needs to get tough and work on rebounding, spend a lot of time with Kerry over the summer.
BWam - swing and miss. Would not be sad to see him go, sorry but it's true.
Shaq - big upside, glad to see him putting it together. Play smarter D and he'll be all-valley level player at some point.
Holland - disappointed in him so far. While he's buried on the bench, he hasn't been hitting shots, which is supposed to be his expertise. His small frame is concerning, I worry about his future on the team.
Henderson - I had high hopes for him. He should have redshirted as well. Needs to gain strength but I still like his upside.
Brown - love the attributes this kid brings. He's another guy with huge upside, just needs to get the minutes to find his groove.
Glass - a few weeks ago I would have been holding the door for him. He's really opened some eyes lately and can be a player next year. We're going to need his experience if he's ready to step up.
I can understand the younger guys hitting a wall - but they need to now push beyond it and get their second wind as WSU starts the second half of their MVC season.

54.9% FG
57.1% 3-pt FG
51.5% FT (horrendous)
In conference games
53.8% FG
75.0% 3-pt FG
61.5% FT (still needs lots of work)

Cant remember who said it but you're never as bad as you look in blowout losses or as good as you look in blowout wins.
Saturday was bad, there's no denying it. Nothing was going right but I still saw our guys compete until the final buzzer. That's the most important thing I'm taking away from Saturday.
There are plenty of things that can be fixed by the coaches and players. I trust they will figure them out.
UNI deserves a lot of credit as they defended and shot their asses off.
The key to beating UNI is to stop Tuttle. In our particular game, I would say that keeping his point total to half of what it was would be considered as stopping him.
FG % looks good on paper but he's very hesitant and needs to get more confidence in his abilities to go to the basket. It seems like a lot of our new guys have the ability but they play like they're scared to shoot the ball for fear of getting yanked.

Unless it is a completely wild horrible-judgement shot, I don't recall Marshall pulling for shot selection or missing a shot(s) very often. Mostly he pulls for defensive lapses, not hustling for a loose ball, or simply not knowing how to run the set offensive play.

This. When I see someone get pulled, I usually notice they were obviously in the wrong place on the floor, or gave up a really easy basket on defense.
