Why not include the only highly paid expert in the discussion? You are advocating for a strategic move in a game situation, yet you refuse to ask the only person getting paid to consider such moves. Strap on a pair, call or tweet your question, or realize your "discussion" is just throwing around baseless opinion.

First off, I never listen (maybe a couple a year), because that's dinner time at SHOXMVC's house. Second, it's not baseless because the two times (my recollection) they payed zone in the second half UNI didn't score. Third, I double and even triple checked to make sure this was a fan board. You know the kind of forum fans use to talk, discuss and debate topics. If it bothers your sorry ass so much, send HCGM a note of invitation for him to sign up and be part of the discussion around here.

They'll need to start making good plays, when given a chance. If they do, they will get some run.

Seems to me that when ever some of the newbies make a mistake they come out immediately and I understand that concept. But it doesn't appear to working at this point. Maybe in the long run it will.

I know they are freshmen/newcomers, but more often than not, they don't seem to bring much of anything to the table. It seems most of them are just warm bodies giving the starters a rest (except Shaq recently and RK earlier in the season). It seems they defer everything to the starters. I'd like to see more of them being aggressive with shots, rebounds, or anything to add value to their time in the game. Again, not dogging them because I know they are still learning the way.

Yes to this. Most of them simply act as offensive placeholders rather than aggressively attacking. Why guard them?

No, I am not cherry picking to prove a point. The selected data was chosen arbitrarily. Perhaps a better way of judging freshman performance is by trend line analysis, but I am not smart enough in chart building in Excel to prepare a presentation document. On the other hand, it would be right up SB Shocker's alley.

I have already did the analysis. Looked at pts off turnover, bench scoring, scoring in paint, 2nd chance point, etc. There is nothing is not much to see there. Wsu is not much different than last year except last year they won all the games that were 50/50 games and the one game where they played like crap (SWMO) they pulled a rabbit out their hat to come back. Wsu was very good last year, but also extremely lucky. This year they are good, but some of the luck has evened out and have faced a tougher schedule.

I will post some of the data tonight when I get home.

Here's your discussion. 1. Learn the internet, you don't have to listen live. Podcasting is your friend. Tweet your question, then listen later to the podcast. 2. I was asking a sincere question. Why not call or tweet the coach's show? If you feel you have a valid point, discuss it with the one who makes decisions. 3. Why immediately to the name calling? This usually indicates a weakness in the person's argument or an insecurity in the person. Not sure if this applies to you. Just know that you immediately began the name calling. 4. I am not knowledgeable enough to be able to critique strategy at the D1 basketball level. Apparently you are, I think the coach would appreciate your insight. 5. The real D-bag move is to hide behind some lame excuse for not asking.

I was being sincere, if you think you have a valid point, why not ask the coach? I would think you would want to find answers, but perhaps I am wrong.

Our jucos don't look like they will be major contributors. Kelly, Nurger , Henderson and Brown are not going to be game changers this year. Shaq can be a big contributor but he is not yet able to handle an experienced big man like Tuttle. So that leaves us with a really really good starting five in search of a bench. We looked tired on Saturday and that may get more pronounced as the season goes on unless we can get more GOOD minutes from our young subs. Again, to me the major disappointment has been the performance of the junior college transfers. I'm not calling the coaches show......to scary😬

Attn _kai_: Can you please disable further discussion on this here discussion forum. We have had a universal epiphany as a community, and will all now be calling into the coach's show to ascertain answers for our many queries. Obviously, this site now bears no utility.

If you were 100% sincere accept my apology. I just get tired of non-sincere posts insinuating a topic that strikes a chord that it somehow demeans coach Marshall's coaching IQ. Believe it or not I am normally patient and tolerant of others (because God knows I'm a handful at times), but today I am obviously not. Calling in on shows isn't my thing. I actually hosted a facsimile of a sports talk show 100 years ago, so being on the caller side isn't a big enough deal. I enjoy discussing such things in an environment like this, without the hassle that my take is so out there that I should go to the principals office. Again, my sincerest apology. Although your "strap on a pair" comment earlier set me off, I am glad to strap on a pair to appropriately apologize.

No worries, I reacted poorly to your previous post about being a "knucklehead", who "says something stupid," and has an "inability to discuss." :) My apologies.

I have been trying to find a way to frame the question of UNI in game strategy without setting Marshall off. He can be quick to take offense. :)
