Several times now in this thread it has been inferred that the consumption of alcohol is analogous - and possibly even a prerequisite - for good times to be had. This has been a completely alien concept to me for the entirety of my life. Can someone please expound upon this? I don't get it. The suggestions that someone who doesn't abuse alcohol is somehow an anti-fun nerd gave me a pretty solid belly laugh, as it would a whole circle of educated, successful, active people that I know.

If that's a reference to my comment, it was blatantly intended to be a sarcastic response to the idea that anyone that consumed alcohol in college is "an alcoholic frat guy." Which is why I made the comment in direct response to that comment.

Clearly neither ridiculous generalization is close to being accurate. Gross generalizations rarely are.

I know educated, successful, active people from every walk of life, who have made life decisions that range from abuse of cocaine as teenagers to never touching a single drop of alcohol in their entire lives.

I do not disagree with you. However, the problem is that he is not eligible at this time, and won't be for almost a year. Gregg really needs to take care of this situation with a plan now. I would imagine that if he will work with him on probation, and put other parameters on him immediately that Conner will have to meet in order to remain on the team. That could include many options and requirements. I doubt the public will find out what those requirements may be. This probably working with his parents since he lives at home, and could include academic requirements, counseling, community service, practice/weight lifting attendance, curfews, etc. etc. etc.

That is one weak analogy.
You may chip in a couple of bucks to SASO, but that doesn't mean you are an investor and can expect an ROI.

HCGM & Fever's good friend Dr. Sexton will get together (with counsel, of course) and decide the best course of action. Despite your convoluted assertion, they are the ones truly in charge of the program and the direction it pursues.

My point was not that I have some big pull to convince Sexton or Marshall of anything. I am not im charge of the program. That is quite true. I never said I was.

However, I was told I'm "not his employer and thus have no reason to evaluate Conner". I was simply blown away by the assumption that I shouldn't even think about evaluating the actions of those people I financially support. Of course I can (and should) evaluate them. It would be ridiculous of me to just blindly throw money at an institution, and this whole issue has nothing to do with my ability or inability to sway that institutions' decisions. Instead, it is completely about my concern for where my money goes. Questioning that is just plain stupid.

Because I'm not Sexton's adviser, friend, or even acquaintance. However, I am my own adviser. Am I not entitled to form opinions about the institutions I give my money to?
