I waited a little while to post. I wanted to get my feelings under control.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the innocent people that did nothing wrong, but still have to deal with this.
Mr. Sexton and 3G did nothing wrong, but have to answer for this.
The other team members did nothing wrong, but they have to deal with this distraction.
The reputation of the WSU basketball team and university have been negatively impacted.
I have no feelings right now about CF.
I do know that Shaq Morris was suspended one game for not practicing hard enough.

If someone had been, would that change your mind? I'm curious to hear anyone's opinion. If this is not severe enough to cause removal from the team would it have been severe enough if someone had gotten hurt? And would a removal in that case only have been because of PR purposes or would it be for punishment purposes?Last edited by XManCometh; January 27, 2015, 03:01 PM.

Really this becomes a question is this the way Connor is, and he just got caught, or did he just make a mistake 1 time and got caught? If he habitual offender then he probably not somebody u want on the team. But if it was a one team deal, and he is humble about it, takes his punishment, and come out and works harder to reach his full potential then maybe u give him another chance.

was unlucky enough to be in the wrong place that night. It puts into perspective just how reckless the act was.

In the 2011 drunk driving accident involving WSU baseball players there were 4 players involved. 3 were underage and 1, Toby Mateychick, was of age. Two of the players stayed in the motel while Zack Beringer and Toby Mateychick left (probably to buy more booze) with the 19-year old Beringer. I don't rember if the two players that stayed behind at the motel received any punishment. IIRC the were not suspended for any games. Mateychick, who was recovering from elbow surgery, received a 10-game suspension when he was medically cleared to play. Of ocourse, a 10-game suspension for a pitcher is not really a 10-game suspension. Zach Beringer had very serious injuries which effectively destroyed what could have been a professional career.
Personally, I thought Mateychick should have been booted off the team. Since he was the only player of age he no doubt supplied the booze. That doesn't exclude the other players from responsibility but Mateychick was an enabler.
Both Mateychick and Beringer were thrown from the vehicle and those two young men are very, very, very lucky to be alive today. I kind of wonder what their views on drinking and driving are today.
Some posters have said that the Frankamp incident will be a good teaching experience. Not sure about that. It doesn't appear the Mateychick/Beringer incident had any lasting effect other than perhaps on those directly involved and that incident was far worse than Conner's incident, although there is no doubt Conner's had the potential to be just as bad or worse.
edit from @_kai_:: I don't edit people's posts, but I'm making an exception here. 72 stated that it was "wsu basketball players" when he clearly meant baseball. I'm editing to make that change so it doesn't cause problems if people aren't familiar.

Personally, I think all youngsters deserve a second chance in a situation like this one along with some type of punishment to be determined by AD and GM.
Just curious since some think CF should be thrown to the wolves as to what your opinion would be if this was FVV, Baker, or Cotton, or even GM? Let me be very clear on this point - I don't think for a minute any of them would, but no one is PERFECT.
But, I do think that the punishment should be the same, no matter who is involved, with the exception that it should be more severe in the case of an adult such as an AD or any coaches.

Shaq was yelled at, lectured, and met with many times that he needed to lose weight and practice harder during the past two years. Sometimes Gregg was nice, sometimes he was diplomatic and sent other coaches as emissaries, sometimes players like Fred passed on the message. Other times he ran steps, rode a stationary bike, and one time he was suspended from a game. Shaq received many second chances over two years. Not exactly analogous.
