  • There's a lot of time between now and Spring semester 2016 and perhaps by then this will all be a distant memory....but damn...this sure isn't getting off to a good start for the young man. Guess we just hope for the best for everyone involved and see how everything shakes out. Red flags galore...but in Coach Marshall I trust. It's just as a BIG-TIME fan of the program for 30 years...I selfishly would rather not have a "potential" cancer on the team "potentially" ruining the great Shocker program we've become accustomed too again. Crossing fingers...

If you really think that 10 beers over the course of 3 hours is a outlier and a singular sign for help, I wonder what world you went to college in. Because it isn't nearly the same one I went to college in.

Maybe Shockernet isn't the best place for you to hear this, but drinking at this rate is is probably more common than it isn't amongst college-aged college students who do college things.

I'm not defending Connor or saying that everyone should just look the other way because it's what every college kid does, but I am saying some people on here need a contextual lesson so that they can better evaluate the situation for what it is and not try deep-level analysis from a severely skewed perspective.
This. 10 beers in three hours wouldn't have even fazed me in college. I'm not sure it would really faze me now (depending on the type; something like your typical Coors Light would absolutely not faze me in that quantity), and I very rarely drink beyond a single beer or glass of Scotch these days. The only difference is that I would never drive in that situation.

As for the rest of Aargh's comments, alcohol is metabolized by the average human body at a rate of .015 per hour. If he was pulled over at 12:30 with a blood alcohol content of .186, at arrival time 10.5 hours later, the average human metabolism would have burned off .1575, leaving Connor with a BAC of .0285, well, well under the legal limit. Not to mention that there is a significant amount of evidence that Breathalyzers tend to produce results above a person's actual BAC.

None of that excuses Connor's horrible decision to drive while intoxicated, but the argument that ANYONE would still be "puking their guts out" with a BAC of ~.025 is absurd.

I don't buy the "game night" argument, either. CF wasn't playing and I could care less if he was drunk the night before he was sitting on the bench. I care about his absurdly reckless decision to drive a vehicle while clearly intoxicated, though. Trying to turn this into an issue about him not caring about his teammates or being an alcoholic is absurd. This is an issue of a kid making a very seriously poor decision, one that could have potentially resulted in someone's death.

      • I went on Twitter to see if there was anything like "I saw Conner Frankamp drunk at a party, yada, yada, yada..." stuff before the arrest, but didn't see anything. I figured with the way kids are these days someone would have tweeted something, but nothing. Did find that Jenn Bates wasn't the first one to tweet about it - Stan Finger from the Eagle tweeted a few minutes before she did. KWCH posted the mugshot at http://www.kwch.com/news/local-news/...rrest/30920082 - the video on the page has some good info.

While I was looking up stuff I ran across the link to the WPD's arrest reports - http://wichita.gov/Government/Depart...formation.aspx - the Media Report tab on that page has some stuff, with the 1/26/15 arrest report having the details of the arrest. On a side note, kind of sad and sobering to read both the media reports and arrest reports in general - a lot of crazy stuff happening in Wichita that you never hear of otherwise.

        • I don't think basketball is the reason people post on Shockernet anymore... not sure it even is a close second..

He was at a house of a friend of his from high school. Not a public party.

                Just wondering.

If merged with the other CF thread, then yes.

For that reason alone, it should be done!

Thanks - didn't know that - was it mentioned already in the news or the thread? Haven't read all the posts so I may have missed it.

                      • Note to self...pick friends who feel me driving after the equivilant of 10 beers is a bad idea.

                          • Well this will be the last post I make in this thread, and that is to comment my thoughts on CF and how it plays out
1 cements the scolly question for next yr. "Son if you are gonna stay here you will pay your own way next yr and prove you are worthy of a ship". 2 We will be randomly be administering Alcohol tests until we feel confident that you are on your way to being a good representative of our institution ,and team. 3 you will not be listed as on the team or seen on the bench until the legal process is completed The main thrust being if there was any offer to give him a ship next yr ,,that's now off the table. as my paw always said "one ahh shyte wipes out 100 atta boys" and he hasn't been here long enuff to have any real atta boy's yet. as is always said by one of our posters THAT IS ALL lol from me here anyways
From the road I listen (Tune In radio) at home I watch ( season Ticks )

No it hasn't been reported. I can't go into it further, but this is what I was told and I believe it at this point. I realize many on here won't take me at my word until it is in print. I am not sure these details will ever come out officially. So take it for what it's worth.
