  • The kansas.com article mentions a .186 alcohol blood level and being stopped at Maize and Kellogg - I think it's safe to say it's a good thing he did get stopped because he could have killed someone or himself in that condition, especially on Kellogg. He should be punished just like anyone else in that situation by the law and WSU and HCGM will decide his athletic fate.

I know of some parents that would make kids get up early and work when they didn't want to after late nights and hangovers, so being on the bench with 10,000+ loud fans may have been some sort of punishment. May not have been hungover still at that time, but if it he was, couldn't have been too pleasant.

    • Even though I probably wouldn't be confused with a Christian, I do believe in the power of atonement and forgivness.

And in that vein, I forgive ShockValue for insulting a whole bunch of people this morning.

I'm not sure I believe in God, but if I did, my God would be forgiving if the person who committed the wrong admitted their transgressions and tried to learn from them (and didn't commit them again, that one's for Mr. Frankamp).

This is my speculation. I highly doubt he would have been on the bench if he told the coaching staff.

        • Based on the comments in this thread, I now have a better understanding of why it's a freaking zoo on the roads in this town. Geez, people.

          • By the way, for those of you young teetotalers........texting and driving (or talking on your phone and driving) impairs you to the same extent as if you had been drinking and driving.

So if you text and drive or if you talk and drive and you have an accident, you are no better than the guy who gets plowed in the local bar and ends up being today's catch @ a DUI checkpoint IMO.

            • Sports Center just reported his blood alcohol was .186.

This is not why the team should be on Sports Center.

He's barely even a part of the team...

EDIT: Also, that's about 10 drinks. I know he was just sitting on the bench yesterday, but he's an absolute fool if he thought he could get away with drinking that much on gameday.

                    • I know I was like many college students and could have taken a ride downtown several times, yet was never caught. We all make mistakes and hopefully everyone learns from them.

.186 is bad. No one will disagree. I hope for his sake he did tell the staff of it. I'm sure that someome might have done it for him before he even had a chance. Wichita does spread things rather quickly.

When my 22 year old is in town it is a must and I've been called multiple times after 2AM to come pickup him and his buddies. Young guys are going to drink and drink to excess. Parenting is not a flawless task, but we have to preach and preach and preach to get the message across!

No. Besides, at 19, 0.02 is drunk as opposed to 0.08. Not justifying, but if he's sitting at 0.05, I'm not bothered. Curious to find out where he was.
Any alcohol reading with a minor is a dui. $3,000 and 1 year later, diversion is over and his record is clean. With minors, information usually isn't all that forthcoming, but I guarantee you he spent the night in jail.

                          • .186 is pretty bad. I won't throw a stone here but damn. You have to be smarter than that.

At 19 or 20 he is an under-age limit drinker but he is not a minor is he? At 18 and over I think your are treated as an adult in legal matters.
