This is an honest question? the term minor I thought was for under 18, is there a different definition for minor involving DUI up to 21?

    • How many bud lights would you have to drink to be that high? 30? How many shots of straight stuff? 10?

This must have been a keg stand situation or a drinking game or something. Now I'm back to being annoyed with him. This is a real DUI. Not that I believe in quantifying the level of a DUI, but there is a huge difference between drinking three beers at a micro brewery because you want to try more than one artisan craft brew as opposed to pounding whiskey to get obliterated the day before a game.

Both of those things could get you a DUI depending on your body but they are very different situations

      • It a good thing this broke today and not yesterday - just think how many spots wsu would have dropped in the polls for winning 2 games this week and having a DUI.

Before the holier than thou crowd starts the parade to condemn, just make sure you have a perfectly clean slate. That means you are absolutely beyond making a mistake and have never been close to committing one.

          Yea, right.

          That is all.
You will not see me joining the parade. I am lucky to be alive. The chamber kept coming up empty.

          • He's a minor as far as alcohol laws, but he's in an adult in the eyes of the law. Essentially, he's in the worst position he could be in.

That's why the laws are so screwed up. A 20 year old can get pulled over after drinking 2 beers and blowing a .01 and get a dui.
I don't know what bearing a .186 has. As far as alcohol related offenses go, you are a minor if you are under the age of 21.

I agree. Changing the situation a bit IMO. Still don't like some's attitude, but that is dumb.

When my 22 year old is in town it is a must and I've been called multiple times after 2AM to come pickup him and his buddies. Young guys are going to drink and drink to excess. Parenting is not a flawless task, but we have to preach and preach and preach to get the message across!
His dad is not the one to blame for this situation. His dad did not drive drunk. There is no evidence CF called his dad to pick him up and his dad said "Screw you, drive home yourself at well over twice the legal limit for a 21 year old (let alone a 19 year old)."

There is only one person to blame for what happened. Legal punishments are now in the hands of the authorities. Team punishments are now in the hands of HCGM.

Now if they were playing a buy-game at home, he would REALLY be in trouble.
Since you brought it up, Brady Morningstar was the last KU player to get a DUI. He was suspended for the first semester the next year. I would hope/expect that Marshall does the same.

                      • Personally I thought the 4 WSU baseball players that were involved in 2011 drinking and driving incident that resulted in serious injuries to Zach Beringer were not penalized harshly enough. Although perhaps Zach Beringer paid a huge price in the form of very serious injuries. Not sure what 3G will do with Conner and it's about the last thing a Coach wants to have to deal with. But I have confident that Coach Marshall will take this very seriously and deal with it accordingly.

However, ultimately how this goes for Conner comes down to how Conner responds and whether he can accept personal responsibility for his actions and, hopefully, grow from this experience.

To be fair, KU allowed their guy to play in the next big game, but he was arrested for obstruction of justice. He was not the person accused of sexual assault or whatever it was that the football player was arrested for.

And there are people on this board who are saying "everyone makes mistakes when they're young" and hoping he stays on the team, but we made fun of KU like crazy for letting that guy play in the next big game. What CF did endangered people's lives, there is no doubt about that. It was dumb and reckless. It reflects poorly on the institution. We either need to not be hard on KU for their decisions with Traylor or we need to seriously question why CF was allowed to sit with the team on Sunday.

What if his dad bought him the alchohol? I would hate to be that person today - if I was the LEO I would try and get him to rat that person out.

                              • Remove him from the bench for the rest of the season, but not the team. Get him out of the public eye, and require that he enroll in a 12 step program and complete X number of hours of community service. He had to earn his way to a scholie before, but now he has to prove himself to his teammates. Had he been on the active roster, he would not have been on the bench yesterday.

Recruits are watching to see how Marshall handles this. He runs a clean program, recruits not only talent but character, and a major screw up such as this will warrant some kind of punishment but likely not one that will get him kicked off the team. People are right, he broke the law, but was caught before any damage was done. It's not like he stole peoples credit cards or something like that, but it is inexcusable. Kids look up to these guys, even high school kids.

Another thing to keep in mind is that he is a representative of the university. He has a standard to uphold. Many of us are dumbasses and have done dumbass things, but few of us have represented an institution on an international level like Mr. Frankamp while in the process. Retribution will be swift and hard, but forgiveness will also be in reach. I wish him good luck, and I hope he learns from this. This isn't Lawrence.
