If ever there was such a thing as a micro-step up in D1 college basketball, leaving BGSU for MSU might be it:

Yes, even though the Valley is a step up from the MAC, going to the land of the Bears would almost certainly not be a step up for Jans. When it comes to resources, the Valley is a two-tier league, and you only improve your position from a league like the MAC if you're moving into the upper tier. Unfortunately, experience suggests that MoState is not part of the upper tier, so I'm guessing that Jans is not a candidate for them. He's better off where he is.
