Greg Heiar would probably be cheap.

Marshall currently has 5 former assistants who are now head coaches at D1 programs. He's one of the national leaders in that category.

With what Jans is doing at BG, his next asst. to get a HC gig will probably be able to aim a bit higher than MSU. Forbes is building one heck of a resume.

Is MoSt too small to poach Coach Jans from Bowling Green?

If ever there was such a thing as a micro-step up in D1 college basketball, leaving BGSU for MSU might be it:

BGSU spends $1.6M annually on men's basketball; MSU $2.2M. (http://ope.ed.gov/athletics/)
BGSU pays CJ $325K per year; MSU pays PL $346K. (http://www.bcsn.tv/news_article/show/369617, http://kfgo.com/blogs/so-many-opinio...deleted-money/)

As opposed to WSU where 3G makes somewhere between $1.5M and $2.25M per year (depending on season outcome), with a men's basketball budget of $5.6M. Someday I hope we can build our mansion around other mansions, as opposed to having our mansion surrounded by a trailer park, if you know what I'm getting at.

Yes, even though the Valley is a step up from the MAC, going to the land of the Bears would almost certainly not be a step up for Jans. When it comes to resources, the Valley is a two-tier league, and you only improve your position from a league like the MAC if you're moving into the upper tier. Unfortunately, experience suggests that MoState is not part of the upper tier, so I'm guessing that Jans is not a candidate for them. He's better off where he is.

Can all these fake, unfounded and wishful thinking "rivalries" between us and every school that wishes they could beat us stand if half the MVC is someday led by HCGM coaching spinoffs?

Jans at Swomo, Heiar at Loyola, Forbes at SIU, Ford at ILL St (I did it just because I could... And they don't deserve better. No wait, let's go with Turgeon at ILL St), Isaac Brown at Bradley and none other than little Matty B at Drake. I'm fine with keeping Jacobsen, Lansing and Simmons. Okay now I'm just making crap up. Last move would be for SEXTOONNN to be valley commish.

This is a fun little fantasy land that I live in.

If your MVC tier-ing criteria mostly includes financial resources as its metric, then the MVC is actually a one tier league with a single statistical outlier - WSU. Since the Sweater Vested Blowjobs left, it really is us all alone out in far left field.

And to add insult to injury, #2 and #3 in basketball expenditures are 6-13 and 4-15 respectively this year.

Really very little difference between #3 and #8.

                    Which clearly poses the question....
