  • Yes, Shaq has surprised me too in the last couple of games. He seems to have a new attitude, and is more aggresive around the basket. I like the fact that he is blocking shots, as that was something we were short of. Carter, also, has been doing a better job of that. Shaq, in my book, has gone from being a liability to being an

    • Love his demeanor on court. Never seems to get flustered or too emotional and is under control. Game seems to be slowing down for him.

      • I will happily say I jumped the gun after the Drake game. I said he was gone. Now I'm not 100% sold on his commitment long term...but at least he is buying in currently. Like JT Durley...he will be a week to week project until (hopefully) the light comes on for good.

              • This is three games in a row that Shaq has been a positive force for us. I agree that he doesnt seem to get flustered on the court. The sky is the limit if he continues to buy into the Marshall way...

                  • Another + for this kid yesterday. His rebounding and shot blocking are very good for a freshman. He should be doing this most games in the MVC though. Not trying to slight his accomplishments, where he came from and where he is now in just 2 weeks time is amazing. Just saying it hasn't been against top bigs. I love what Shaq has done, and this time next week, we will know just how far he has come. I personally can't wait to see how he plays against Mock @ Evansville on Saturday. ILS has some decent bigs, and he held up fine. If this were the stock market, I'd take the risk and make the investment in this kid.

                    • I'm loving Shaq's play, especially defensively. Last night he was a force in the lane, made quick recoveries on picks, and hustled his butt off. I REALLY hope he has turned the corner and stays within HCGM's good graces. We are gonna need him!

                      • It might be time to start Shaq.

This will do a few things for this team:
                        1) it will give WSU some much needed size in the post. They have looked much smoother with two bigs in at once.
                        2) it will move Darrius to a more comfortable and natural position; the 4.
                        3) it will allow Evan to become the sixth-man he was born to be; able to come in for any player at any time. Much more flexibility for him and the bench.

I proposed this idea when Evan wdn't down and Kelly moved into the starting lineup, but Shaq is the hot player at the moment and fits the 5 position better the Rashard.

                        What say ya'll?!

I don't see it happening for a while. I think we could start seeing it to start the 2nd half in games where Carter has only picked up 1 foul.

If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Note I'm not necessarily saying Shaq ought to start every game, I think Wessell played very well yesterday. The only problem is, most of the teams in the tourney will be bigger across the front line than Loyola. If we are facing a team with that kind of a front line, we might/should consider starting Shaq. Sneak Wessell in when the 6' 6" guy subs the 6' 10" guy out.
