But looking at the season's stats so far, I do think a case is building to start Rashard at the 4 and move Evan to the backcourt to spell Ron and Tekele at the 2 and 3 position.

Looking at Rashard's and Evan's stats for the year they are very similar in point production and rebounding. The glaring difference is turnovers and assist to turnover ratio, which is not trivial, but probably improving on Rashard's part. Rashard's FT% is atrocius, but I believe improving, but he is getting quite a few more attempts, which means more opportunity to score and put the other guys in more foul trouble.

Man I wish they had "50/50 Balls Attempted" and "50/50 Balls Won" stats.

I wonder if he wishes he were playing the three as much as the posters on here? Probably so!

He even ripped a 50/50 rebound away from Darius in the first half when there weren't any Alabama guys going after it. He doesn't know how to turn it off. I felt like Darius was probably saying "Here's my wallet and my car keys. Just take whatever you want and please don't hurt my family."

In terms of the injury the comparison isn't really between Wessel and Kelly. It's between Wessel and whoever backs up Kelly so likely Shaq/Nurger. Kelly's minutes might increase a bit from the 20 of the last two games but it is likely Shaq and Nurger who are going to see the most new playing time.

Good point. I doubt Kelly becomes a 30 minute player.

Enter Cotton, who was an opportunist with this development and came in and really established his role as our top 3 man. Kelly should improve in leaps and bounds at the 4. I hope Wessel gets that foot healed very soon because we really do need him in our rotation. To me, Wessel plays so much better at the 3. As our bigs' continue to develop as we enter the Valley race, look for Wessel to maybe play more 3 and some 4. Wessel has the heart of a warrior and is out there at all times to help us win and puts our team first. He gives his all and we much appreciate him for that. He is a proven winner and I am honored he is on our team.
Don't forget that Cotton was injured in the preseason of Tekele and Evan's sophomore season. I actually think that Wessel earned the starting role because Cotton was hurt.

That was a Season where we had wholesale injuries but kept finding ways to win. Credit Coach Marshall for making the needed adjustments through all of that. I knew Cotton was injured early which might have slowed him down and limited his playing time some but I don't remember him missing any games. Hall, Baker, Wessel, and EO were 4 starters that had injuries. Was we not picked 4th in the Valley and made the Final 4? That was incredible. Speaking of the Final 4, we really could have used Evan's grit in the Louisville game. We win that game and I thought we could for sure beat Michigan.

I also still wonder if the depth on our NIT Championship team was our best in the past 5 Seasons which is saying a lot. As incredible as 35-0 is and was, our Final 4 Season was so very special, especially considering the surviving the injuries and adversity we overcame that Season.

You are correct that Cotton didn't miss any time due to injury that year. Just slowed at the start of the season.

What was it Marshall said about Evan and loose balls (paraphrasing), "If I rolled the ball out on the court, Evan might not be the first one to snare the ball, but I'd bet money he'd walk out of the gym with it."

Chuck Norris wouldn't stand a chance against Evan Wessel

I heard this morning that Evan is not on the team airplane to Hawaii.

I would think some beach time girl watching would be awfully good therapy, but maybe he is going to just stay home and rehab and spend Christmas here with the family.

I just got a report that he is on another plane on his way to Hawaii. Good News. One of these games, he will start raining threes like Graham Hatch did. When he was a senior in high school I saw him play in two basketball games and one football game. That kid is way tougher than nails.

It was because right as the doors were closing on the plane, he saw a loose ball roll out on the ground and had to gain possession of it.

Turns out it was actually a bear, but that's not really an important detail in the story. Nevertheless, after he quickly controlled it and headed back to the plane, it was too late. He grabbed a bald-eagle and they took off for Hawaii behind the plane, but he might be a little late...or will he?
