You can sprain your ankle and still walk and run on it a little bit, but the next day is when it is super tight and sore. From seeing how he sprained it I would say there is going to be at least 3 weeks of a less than healthy EW.

Seeing that replay made me cringe! He's definitely a tough dude to try and come back out. I guess the coaches didn't see the replay or they'd not have let him back on the court. Considering he's already playing with a significant height handicap, I don't see any way he starts in Hawaii. I'd be surprised to see him at all. We need EW healthy down the stretch, not in Hawaii."The more difficult the victory, the greater the happiness in winning."

When someone pointed out he was out warming up at halftime (after his father was allowed into the lockerroom at halftime by the way), count me in the stunned group.

Kelly, is "this close" to breaking out. I think some more minutes and he could earn a spot in the starting lineup going forward.
Also, I think it would be better to have Evan coming off the bench. That way, they could bring him in either in the front or back court; depending on the situation.
Heal Angry Evan!!!!!! You are a warrior!!!!!!!
I suspect EW will be back on the court sooner than many of us imagine.

I also thought that we missed Evan in the second half. Kelly disappears sometimes. They backed off Kelly because they didn't think he'd shoot the 3 (Marshall doesn't want him to yet on his coaches show). He later made them pay by driving to the bucket. Evan may have hit a couple of 3s if they backed off him. Plus Evan always shows up with big rebounds, etc. like the tip in when he hurt his ankle. Who starts is Gregg's decision but we need Evan and Rashard.

Evan's stats year-by-year
He was 1-4 and 0-2 in the first two games and also versus Alabama. Removing the first two, he has been shooting 44.4% and 46.3%. He is perhaps a bit too conservative in shot selection, but this may be who he is, rather than last year attempting to adjust to a "new hand"FG% 3-pt% 2012-13 48.5% 45.8% 2013-14 37.2% 12.0% 2014-15 41.4% 38.1% "I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Not wanting to hijack this thread OR imply in any way that Evan is not deserving of every minute of playing time we can give him. But looking at the season's stats so far, I do think a case is building to start Rashard at the 4 and move Evan to the backcourt to spell Ron and Tekele at the 2 and 3 position.
Looking at Rashard's and Evan's stats for the year they are very similar in point production and rebounding. The glaring difference is turnovers and assist to turnover ratio, which is not trivial, but probably improving on Rashard's part. Rashard's FT% is atrocius, but I believe improving, but he is getting quite a few more attempts, which means more opportunity to score and put the other guys in more foul trouble.

The best Mr. Wessel has played IMO was the Season he was having before his injury happened. Enter Cotton, who was an opportunist with this development and came in and really established his role as our top 3 man. Kelly should improve in leaps and bounds at the 4. I hope Wessel gets that foot healed very soon because we really do need him in our rotation. To me, Wessel plays so much better at the 3. As our bigs' continue to develop as we enter the Valley race, look for Wessel to maybe play more 3 and some 4. Wessel has the heart of a warrior and is out there at all times to help us win and puts our team first. He gives his all and we much appreciate him for that. He is a proven winner and I am honored he is on our team.Last edited by forevershockerfan; December 17, 2014, 10:55 PM.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
