Yes, but they are still coming! Lots of work yet to do.

    • Per Nolan, SoS is now 8. RPI is 3.

      • Free throws, rebounding, inside presence, overall size all in question. The courage, fortitude, confidence, smarts to win games, not in question.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

        • some of u-all big ol titty babies

W's taste like candy no matter the score

We all know Fred and Darius can consistently shoot FT's, it will come around.

5 freshmen come off the bench, things going to be humming come March.

          RPI 3, SOS 8, 2-1 top 50

            • wow what a finish....What a physical, gritty, gut check of a game. Kelly showed up big along with Fred, Ron, and Darius. Didn't look good at the 6min mark when we were down 11, but what a come back....the trip to Hawaii will be alot more fun for the Shocks, 8-1 not to shabby. I thought our crop of freshmen as a whole gave us some very good minutes in such a big time atmosphere. None of them seem rattled, and Kelly is ahead of the curve, he's come up big the last couple of games. Again, not meaning to pile on but we have to start hitting the free ones....it almost cost us, our grit, and defense one this game. Big props to Alabama, they were physical and played a smart game. They prevented us from making run-outs for easyones, except at the end...what a finsih

Our rebounding is fine. In fact we currently hold the largest rebounding margin of any team in Marshall's tenure. Otherwise, I agree.

                • What a knockdown, drag out slugfest. I'm both exhilarated and exhausted at the same time. Students stepped up. Shocker fans were great. Tough bunch of competitors on this Shocker team. They certainly have taken on the aura of their coach.

                    • I think Kelly is ready to take over a starting spot if Wessel can't go. That could do great things for Kelly's game. If he's relied on, it might move him from "contributor" to "stud". I think he's got that capability, but has probably been deferring to the AA's on the perimeter.

I think we have the Fr version of Early replacing the Sr version of Early. If Wessel can't go, getting Kelly some extra minutes at this stage of the season doesn't seem to be a big negative for the overall success of the season.

                      • I just don't understand how we won that game. Awesome. The Marshall Era is so much fun.

Down 11 with 5:50 left and they were all the sudden shooting threes on us. I was bracing for the loss. I mean, this is Alabama, not MoST. The fact that these guys ripped the W away from this tough Tide team is a really big deal.

Yeah it was ugly, but this feels like a turning point game even though we are already doing well.

What about our bigs Carter and Kelly making the needed shots under pressure? 3G is the best Coach ever here. FVV will get his shot working soon but still rebounded like a rock star and made the big assist to Carter for the game winning shot.

Not for players in practices over semester break when (I believe) practice times aren't limited.

I think it was conditioning that won this game in the last minutes. I also believe the Shox will be in much better condition after 6 days off and reviewing film of how they played this game.

                            • Great come back, but until the last 3 minutes it didn't look like we had the ability to get it done. Then suddenly the team turned it up several notches.

Of late it seems like we really have trouble breaking through the opponent's defense while at the same time they frequently run through us like a sieve. Bama's Bigs for most of the 2nd half were frequently much more athletic and faster than ours.

                              • That was some ballsy, desperation defense at the end. Loved that comeback. Damn near pulled the Utah game out, came back on Detroit.... these games will pay huge dividends.
