I'm pretty sure that the crowd was pretty incendiary in the 50s. I will try and find some of the historic articles.

I remember a game about 40-50 years ago against Louisville. The game was close and both teams were approaching 100 points in overtime. Fans were allowed to sit on chairs on the floor behind the baskets. There also were rows of chairs on the floor opposite of the scorers table and both teams. There was very little security and cups/ice were often thrown on the court during close games if fans didn't like referee call (in fact, it was not uncommon for a fan to be marched out during a game when administrators came down to find who threw the objects and other fans may point them out). During this close game, the ball bounced to the chairs behind the basket. A WSU fan picked up the ball and athe referee beckoned for it. The fan walked to the out of bounce line next to the referee and was holding the ball in his opposite hand while he poked a finger in the referee's face scolding him in front of 11,,000 fans who were booing. Probably not a safe environment and today would not be tolerated.

Try 22-12 like our game with Utah. Although I still dont really think we got hosed anyway. We were just sloppy. I guess that's the difference between me and your average SH fan. Even at 22-12 I'm willing to admit the truth. Then you have SH whining about a game where they had fewer than us to begin with.

We're home games at the Forum like that? Or did it start with the Ralph Miller era? I guess as I get older I get more curious about the history of Shocker athletics especially before my time. WSU really has a great basketball history and tradition. Hope this makes sense because I'm typing it on my phone as I walk in an airport
But that is way too damn long ago to remember for me to recall the fans' reactions, except that we booed the hell out of Oklahoma A&M for their entire game stalling tactics. No clock and the scores were often in the 20's for both teams. Often not a lot to get really excited about.
I believe the Forum could hold somewhere around 4,000, but not sure if that was for BB or just boxing, which was quite popular in Wichita back then. We had a light heavy weight/middle weight from Wichita, Dolph Quiano(sp) who was very good and he fought an exibition match with Bert Lytel, then a top 3 contender.

Any idea as to what round they are in?"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Think I just found this in a little oddball book at my parents. Just remember saving the picture of the pages.
