Only exception to this is if they give said ticket to some hottie! Then all will be good ;)βLet your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.β

This is a good step to use for the rest of the season. Hopefully, the powers-that-be will be to use the spring, summer, and fall to determine what to do for next year and get a system in place to connect tickets with student IDs to track missed games.78-65

I think the one game at a time method is going to work well. It would be interesting to know what proportion of student tickets go unscanned and what proportion of guest passes go unscanned. I imagine, the guest passes are very close to 100%. Paying $15 (or whatever the price is) will make someone feel like they need to use the ticket so they don't waste money. The guest passes are also obviously transferable to non-students.
The reason I think it would be interesting is because I imagine there are students who intentionally go to pick up tickets for X game and pick up Y game even if they aren't sure they can go yet. The ticket feels "worthless" to them since it took no extra effort or money on their behalf. The students have no incentive to give the ticket to anyone, even if it would be good for the environment in Koch. The mere effort of going to pick up the tickets should be enough to get students to value the tickets more now. And people are certainly less likely to pick up the tickets if they aren't sure they can go since they can only pick up the one ticket.
As a whole, I think this is a good and fair solution.

I've attended every game over my 4 years at WSU. However, it's going to make things very difficult to get out of work for an hour to get tickets once a week. I'm not sure there is a perfect system, but this is not it.

How about keeping the same system with the following changes. Any FULL-TIME student may buy a SINGLE season ticket for all home games. The remaining tickets will be paid for and distributed as they are now. Furthermore as an incentive those students who chose to purchase will also be allowed to enter the arena 30 minutes before all other GA patrons to secure their seats.
this should be sufficient to increase demand and shrink supply so that the students who are more loyal to the mbb program are rewarded, and those casual gamers will find it harder to secure tickets they might or might not use.Last edited by Yellow Bellied; December 18, 2014, 05:52 PM.

I've honestly never seen more than 2% of college students be able to successfully plan more than a few hours ahead when it came to a social schedule.
Student IDs, first come, first served. If your schedule doesn't allow you to get there on time, maybe next game. Any seats left 30 minutes prior to tipoff (say out of 1100 available, 900 have been scanned by 630, then shut down scanning ids. Now sell GA tickets and if a student wants to go, get in a line and get a free ticket, if one is still available.

Additionally, the first dozen rows were roped off exclusively for those students who had attended something like 5 home games in a row (they received a specially colored band upon entry) to reward consistent attendance, which was again tracked via the Student ID.
Doc is right about college students being flakey and I am sure that is the primary culprit more often than not.
