Couldn't go to Orlando, had to be back for tomorrow's game. What were you thinking?

7 and a half hours? You guys drive way too slow. Speed limits are suggestions for normal drivers with average reaction times. Also temperature and wind chill figure into actual allowable speeds. The colder it is the less likely a state trooper is willing to stop you and write a ticket for anything less than 10 mph over. The colder it is the more the allowable speed increases. Not saying I drove over the allowable speed but I was surprised that the Buick could hit 100 mph with little increase in wind noise.

This might be the first post in the history of the internet where someone talks about a brisk rate of travel AND driving a Buick. I'm just thrilled you are not hanging out in the left lane doing 10 under; the triple digit talk is simply icing on the cake.

If you were actually driving that fast, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near where you were. It only takes one little thing.

On I-29 between Sioux Falls and Nebraska City, I would estimate 90% of the time there was not a moving vehicle within 1 mile of my car either way. It was desolate.

The 70MPH speed limit was laughable. These days, on highways like that, it should be at least 75, probably 80 or 85.

You drive a Buick? You gave me a Gomez Addams moment.

                        Don't ever vacation in Germany.

In the context of the modern vehicle, 100 MPH or 110 MPH is not really any different than 70 MPH or 80 MPH was to the vehicles of 30 or 40 years ago. Most of the US interstate system that is located in lower population areas (the vast majority of the central US) could handle those speeds no problem, as could the majority of vehicles that are produced today. The variable that precludes the German autobahn model from working here is the US driver and the low threshold for licensure. We'll give a license to anything with a pulse, after a morning spent reading a booklet - the opposite tact of German and most of Europe.

EDIT: BTW Montana interstates essentially had no daytime speed limit through a good chunk of the '90's and early '00's (the limit was signed as "safe and prudent"), until one dork who challenged his ticket ruined it for everyone.

Doc, there are roads in Texas where the speed limit actually IS 85 (and based on what experience I've had driving in Texas, the actual traffic flow speed is no doubt above 90). Plus it's almost certainly a lot warmer than in South Dakota. Now the Shocks just need to get a game there, which means someone from there has to be willing to be play here -- which is the hard part.

Remember, it only takes one little thing no matter what the speed. The triple digits were passing on the two lane. Ask Moose if he was ever nervous, he had shotgun.

That's why @RoyalShock: had to stay in town. We're like the Prez and VP, we can't travel together.
