NMSU isn't quite on par with Northwood, so I agree, the 30 point blowout predictions are a tad optimistic. We have a LOADED team. I expect us to pull out to a decent lead midway through the second half. Our bench will get some more minutes, and while our bench is also really good, they won't be playing against Northwood. Our lead will shrink into the 15-point range by game's end.

The Aggies do have a solid program and should NOT be taken for granted. It's a game we should win though, and win going away, if we are a legitimate Top 10 team. But it isn't gonna be a cakewalk.

The students and rest of the crowd need to bring it. It starts counting for real on Friday, folks.

    And I too CANNOT wait.

    ... No really, deuces.

Maybe we should go ahead and get a good loss early to help with our seeding chances?

Our depth and resulting defensive pressure win out.

What do you guys think our 9 or 10 man rotation?

We Know Fred, Ron, Tekele, Evan and Darius will probably be on the floor to start the game.

I would think Corey, Ria'n, Rashard, Rauno and B-Wam would round out the second 5.

Tevin could be in the mix as well as an 11th man if 3G needs him or wants to go that deep.

Zach Brown looks like the logical player to consider a redshirt year.

Shaq will join the 3 walk-ons if mop-up minutes present themselves.

NMSU and Memphis is a tough way to open the season with so many newcomers. Baptism under fire for sure. We are going to find out a lot about our Shocks right out of the gate.

I think your 10 are correct with Corey being the tenth man. I'd expect to see about 15 minutes each for BWam, Nurger, and Kelly.

I would think "Tevin" is correct. TYhanks for looking it up. I should have questioned it.

They won at Drake and split a home and home against New Mexico last season, took #4 Seed San Diego State to the wire in the dance and battled Gonzaga and Arizona before falling. Only Arizona had a wide margin of victory (26) and that was the 4th game in 12 days (3 on the road) against top competition.

WSU is the better team and should win, perhaps decisively, but do not forget the other guy has a say in the matter too. Really looking forward to a game that counts against a quality opponent. Leaving work early on Friday to take in the volleyball match, running home to grab a beverage and then back to the Chuck.......cannot wait.
We shall see. NMSU might be a little better/worse than previous seasons, who knows yet. They did struggle a little on the road last year losing to teams like UMKC, Idaho, and Chicago State. They had a 20 pt road loss to UTA 2 years ago. Like you mentioned, it does look like they get up a bit for the big games though, so that will be interesting to see. I expect a line around WSU -12, and I'll be putting my money where my mouth is. If it's closer to WSU -17 or -18, I might be a wuss and back off a little.

The Lobos beat Western New Mexico by 45 in their exhibition last week. We know the Lobos are a very good if not great program. The Aggies play Western tomorrow night. Should be interesting taking with a grain of salt what comparative scores are worth (sometimes not a damn thing).

I know that NMSU is the class of the WAC and this won't be a show up and we win game. I don't think that we will win by 30-40 points. However, I don't think that they've faced pressure like we will show them in their conference. Baker, Cotton, Wessel, and probably Holland too(I only hesitate because I only saw him play against a Div.2 NAIA team) will be able to pressure them and keep them out of their offense better than other teams in the WAC.

I think that our guards have shown that they show up and play extra hard for everyone.

Our guards are amongst the best in the nation, if not the best. That will certainly be in our favor.

Hard not to be very optimistic after the Shockers' performance against Northwood in the exhibition game. Still we are going up against a good NMSU team with 8 newbies who have yet to play in a D-1 game.

Hopefully, the Lady Shocks will take care of business against Evansville so we avoid any logistics problems. Seems like I heard you can get into the Volleyball match at 5:00pm with your NMSU game ticket. I assume you will have to present this at the ticket counter to get a ticket for the VB match.

I'm thinking of Volleyball, then dinner at the Shocker Hall Dining Room, capped off with Shocker basketball would make for a very enjoyable Friday evening.
