"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

As everyone has seen by now, the W schools -- WSU with Luke Skywalker and FVV, and Wisconsin with Kaminsky and Dekker -- are the only ones with two top ten players. Nice recognition, especially considering that Cotton also thus remains under cover to be turned loose as appropriate.
Oh, and once again: no other Valley players included today. ;)

Bilas and ******* chime in on who they feel is ranked too high:
Overvalued
Bilas: While I really like Ron Baker of Wichita State and believe he is a top-50 player, I do not have him rated as a top-10 player, nor would I place Juwan Staten of West Virginia or Ryan Boatright quite that high.
*******: I'm going with a trio of point guards who are a tad high for my liking.
I am a huge Fred VanVleet fan, but I'm just not sold that he's first-team All-American material -- which is essentially where we have him at No. 5 overall. VanVleet is so poised, takes care of the ball, and is a tremendous leader. However, I just don't know if he would be quite as productive if he played in a high-level league and against high-level athletes consistently. I'm all for VanVleet as a top-25 guy, but I'm not ready to buy that he's in the elite class and one of the top two guards in the entire country.
I'm also not buying Ryan Boatright at No. 10. He's talented and he really came around the second half of last season, but he's too erratic and inconsistent. With Shabazz Napier gone, Boatright will have the ball in his hands the majority of the time, and I'm just not sold that he can be The Guy on a top-10 or top-20 team.
Another point guard who's a tad high in my estimation, at least based on his play last season, is Kentucky sophomore Andrew Harrison (No. 18). I'm still not sold that he'll have the ball in his hands at the end of this season with the game on the line. Freshman Tyler Ulis is a superior point guard in my opinion but Harrison has a year under his belt and did play better down the

Well, both Baker and FVV are supposedly better players than they were last year, so we'll see how people evaluate them at the end of the season. Meanwhile, just a couple more reasons to keep playing angry. And what a surprise that ******* would comment on VanVleet's not playing in a high-level league.
Interesting that the guy both agreed on as overvalued was Ryan Boatright from the defending champs.

*******'s rationale is terrible, you can see it in his assessment of Harrison. Let's consider these two statements:
"However, I just don't know if he would be quite as productive if he played in a high-level league and against high-level athletes consistently."
"Freshman Tyler Ulis is a superior point guard in my opinion (referencing Harrison)"
Sooo, you're not sure about FVV because he didn't play in the ACC, but you're cool with Tyler Ulis because he played in High School. #flawlesslogic

*******'s opinion is meaningless.
I love the fact that one of the few things to complain about as a WSU fan is whether our TWO players chosen as top ten players in the country are being disrespected.
Two players being predicted in the top ten. Three years ago most national ESPN guys couldn't spell Wichita.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'
