Apparently, they have two guys who were NAIA All-Americans as juniors last year. Solomon (6'3" G and Mattison 6'7" F). Both are on the roster for this season. This might be a fairly solid team for NAIA.

Interestingly enough, Joe Mitchell was also on the All-American list. He was NAIA/NABC Player of the Year. What is more, Joe Mitchell led Friends to a close victory over this team in the post season last year before eventually falling in the quarter-finals.

Northwood enters the season ranked #5 in the NAIA Div. 2 coaches poll. I'm not gonna rest from digging up info until you are all predicting this game as a loss :)

This is were it gets really good. The game between Northwood and Villanova on Nov. 4th will be carried by Fox Sports 1. Must be a really big game...Either that or it must be a really mid major network. :)

We haven't even seen Shaq or Bush yet. How cool will it be if Shaq gets to play and he dominates? And hopefully Nurger comes out and backs up his previous performance with another solid game. I shouldn't sell Bush short just yet either. They say he isn't quite as raw as EO in the beginning. We shall see.
What a find in Nurger. Whether he starts or rotates in, what a nice solid player and he is only a Freshman.. He can really
shoot the rock and I like that. Bush seems tough minded, can guard some on the perimeter, moves his feet well on D, and
can rebound. Shaq is one I need to see more on the floor but no doubt he is oozing with talent.

Positions 1-2-3 are really good. Carter and Cotton will have nice Senior Seasons. Our foes will focus on these 4. However,
we may have too many secret weapons with our depth that will keep our opposition scratching their scalps as though
they could really use some "Head and Shoulders." This is a unique advantage that keeps us moving up. We have much better quality depth than most teams. While this Season's team may be our deepest ever quality wise, we need ample time to
blend in the 7 new talented players. Once this finally gets shored up, watch out!!!!!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

One of my biggest frustrations with shockervision has been that you can't watch replays of games. I don't think I'm going to be able to watch this game live (or any of the first three games...). Does anybody have any ideas for solutions? I'd be willing to pay for shockervision and then download software for downloading streaming video if anyone has experience with a viable solution.

            Thoughts?

              My prediction....

But then again, I predicted the Shockers would score 100 vs Loyola.
Brummett throws, STRUCK HIM OUT! THE SHOCKERS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! AN UNBELIEVABLE STORY!

Now that I've read in the paper that Bush is doing well, I would guess that he probably starts in this game to win that tip :)

I hope they give us a good workout as we have some very tough teams coming up early in the season.

                      Gregg 80,
                      Rollie 47

In addition to the battle for minutes at center, I'm very interested in watching Henderson/Holland/Brown.

Do we normally play NAIA-II schools? What is Newman? I guess I'm just wondering what to expect as far as competitive level.

Last year we played an NAIA for exhibition. OK Baptist?

                          Newman is NCAA Div 2

That answers my question. I just wasn't sure if this was a step down from Newman or if it was about the same. If they play at the same level, this team is probably fairly solid, given that Newman usually keeps it around 20 points and this Northwood team is a highly rated team for NAIA-2.

If you are familiar with the KCAC conference in Kansas (Bethel, Tabor, Sterling, Friends, etc.), Northwood is at the same level. Generally just players that were above-average athletes in HS, and who wanted to continue playing competitive, organized sports. Typically a Grand Canyon-chasm away from sniffing even the bottom rung of D1 sports.

That's actually what made me wonder. I saw that they play the same level as Friends, but I don't really know the comparison from Friends to Newman and I've seen a lot of Newman over the last few years. Are they about the same?
