I didn't read the article because the premise is flawed. The only players that are hated are the enforcers, cheap shot artists, floppers and thugs. Baker doesn't fit the bill.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I can't see people hating Baker. I can't see people outside of North Carolina hating Gibbs, either. The only thing Gibbs did was stay in college for 14 years. The last Bluejay I think deserved hating was P' Allen Stinnett and the last Shocker worth having opposing fans hate was probably back in the Turgeon era. Maybe Hall fit the bill, but not really. Missouri State had Kyle Weems, but if you look at the Valley as a whole, outside of hating for the sake of rivalry, there really aren't a lot of players to hate.

Come to think of it, over the years Bradley and Illinois State have had a few...

Baker has the boy band look going for him, and he's had a "knack" for getting the flagrant elbow calls.

What part of Jamar and Turgeon era don't you understand? You're probably one of those idiots that sport an Android phone and an iPad.

Thought it funny that the first three hated players are from Kansas schools. A player can be hated yet respected and Ron is that. Mark my words, opposing teams are going to hate Cotton this season more than any other Shocker. Can't wait to watch it happen!

I think if you ask opposing players they would say that Gibbs had a tendency to play dirty. I HATE the grabbing and holding by Evansville players.

Oh yeah surprised they didn't bring up Ron denying that girl his autograph as why he's hated.

I know that this is BR virtual tissue paper, but this is kind of comical.

Let me give a reference for Baker's physical stature. Baker is 6'3" and weighs 222. Adrian Peterson is 6'1" and weighs 217.

Baker has spent the summer working on his guard skills at several elite camps. He's been reported to be breaking ankles against other elite guards. Baker is considered to have NBA PG skills - and he has that in an NFL running back's body. I doubt he will be able to use that body in the MVC, but in games where contact is called loosely (NCAA's, NBA), he's going to be a load.

                        Here's another interesting comparison. Jamaal Charles - 5'11", 199. Fred VanVleet - 5'11", 204.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Nice comparisons, Aargh. That really highlights how big and strong the key Shockers are.

Personally, I agree with those who think Baker is more likely to be respected than truly hated, just because he's such a class act. Now if you want someone who was hated, at least in these parts, go back to Creighton's previous grandfather (before Gibbs, that is), Nate Funk. What Shocker fan didn't love to hate Funk, with his knack for leaping into defenders?

What about Creighton's former punter? I think his name was P'Allen.
