Personally, I agree with those who think Baker is more likely to be respected than truly hated, just because he's such a class act. Now if you want someone who was hated, at least in these parts, go back to Creighton's previous grandfather (before Gibbs, that is), Nate Funk. What Shocker fan didn't love to hate Funk, with his knack for leaping into defenders?
I hated Colt Ryan almost as much as Funk. Also Kyle Weems. I need to find a new guy to hate this year.

I have a feeling that the redturds will give us a few good candidates.

How about this dude from Illinois State:

Now I know hate is a strong word, oh what the hell, I hated Jackie "Chan" Carmichael.

P.S. Shame on Cotton for punching Carmichael's face with his foot.

P.S.S. This is the game where Cleanthony Early scored the final eight points over the last 36 seconds to win the game 68 to 67. Karma Baby!!!

I had forgotten that it was actually 67-60 with 41.2 seconds left. That is an amazing comeback. That is one game we almost certainly lose without Cleanthony Early...for all of the people who are concerned about whether or not our new players can fill his shoes. That was a special game.

Alright, it's time for a little patronizing lecture from MVJ. I'm fully ready to accept the wrath that this post brings upon myself, so it's time to let it fly.

Winners don't need to hate anyone. The Shockers are winners and accepted as such nationally. Therefore, the basketball program has grown to the point where the fans don't need to hate anyone, at least in the Valley. Unless, that is, in your heart, you really believe the Valley is at your level.

Now is the time to hate players from blue blood programs. Those are the programs you should be chasing, not Illinois State. And who cares what Agrinut up says? Let me troll their board for humor, not you.

By thinking about, or even considering whom to hate in the Valley, makes you look small time. Now is the time to be the cock of the walk and proudly say you don't hate anyone in the Valley, they are just cute little teams you play every year. Jackie Charmichal, don't hate him either, he was just doing whatever it took to level the playing field.

Grow up, act the part and only hate those whom are your real peers.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Nope. Inter league competition > teams we won't face except MAYBE NCAA tourney.

Now if you want to say we shouldn't hate other teams players because they're human beings playing a game that no fan has control over then I'm with you.

I'm more upset about three refs, the scorer and the league missing the 1.9 seconds in st. Louis.

I'm with MVJ on this one. Take Balentine for example. He's probably the best player in the MVC not on the floor or the bench for the Shox. I don't hate him at all. It's more like pity for playing for E'ville.

Hawkins for IlSU is another example. If there's a plyer to hate on, he's got all the qualifications, but it's rude to hate on those with disabilities. Whether those disabilities are physical or mental doesn't matter. Hating on him for his decision-making would be like hating on a kid with Downs Syndrome for not being real smart.

I don't disagree with you, but the Villain always makes the story better.

All in good fun. I don't actually "hate" them, just dislike some of their antics on the court. The valley is fully capable of having these types of players and we have a right to be annoyed with them. An yes, Weems was an A-Hole.
