It is rooted in the AD linking purchasing ability to a few very basic, not especially proprietary, codes.

But yes, someone buying tickets without any code at all is totally a failure of IBA.

A huge problem with that is the assigning ot seats to the season ticket holders. Out of 10,000 seats, I would bet that fewer than 1,000 will actually be happy with their seat assignment. That's 9,000 grumbling supporters. I sure wouldn't want that compared to being able to shuffle off any blame for seating, pricing, marketing mistakes away from the Athletic Department.

I find it hard to believe that the Athletic Department could ever implement anything that would please everyone. Isn't that simply outside the laws of physics as were currently know them?

Can you only order tickets at the box office today or can you do it online?

I think our AD kicks total arse, outside of the ticket department.

Today is the last day for advance ticket purchases for season ticket holders. Tomorrow is the first day for sales to the general public.

I'm with you. I don't care THAT much about my seat (sightline, legroom, etc) for a single game away from home. Just increase the season ticket package by an appropriate dollar amount and call it a day. No going through this charlie foxtrot every year.

I show 2750ish available in the lower bowl, maybe down 300+ from yesterday afternoon.
Just over 2300 lower bowl tickets left. Looks like about 400 sold yesterday. $57 tickets are gone. There are about 150 $42 tickets left. Upper bowl sales, while not as brisk, seem to be gaining momentum. A good sign I hope.

I have season tickets, but I live out of town. So I can't order tickets online can I?

                      Sure:

Provides local and regional concert and sports event tickets for many area venues including the INTRUST Bank Arena, Century II, and The Orpheum Theatre.

You'll need the code from the letter WSU sent you in order to get the tickets though (at least through today).

What's the point of the code system if you don't even need a code to access presale tickets? This probably should be passed on to both people at WSU and IBA.

And I agree that there probably is a better system for doing this than "pass codes" that aren't even required when ordering.
The site requires a code to get any further. I am betting the person went in in person and was sold some tickets without giving them a code. Since they probably get almost zero walker-inners I bet this is really a very, very small issue. But it will get worse as the Shocks continue to dominate, so it's something that needs to be addressed for next year.

There was a line of about 10 or 15 people when I got there this morning at 9:30am. We were all a little cold out there in the "wind tunnel", as the person in front of me in line referred to it. I looked behind myself once they let us in the door. I would guess there were 50 or more people behind me. As I was walking out with a smile on my face more people were coming in the door with concerned looks on there faces. I quickly slipped my tickets in my pocket so that I didn't get mugged by the angry mobs of Shocker fans wanting to get the best possible tickets.

On a side note, I purchased my tickets last year about two weeks after they went on sale to the general public. My seats this year are in almost exactly the same spot. I would guess we will get much closer to a sell out. I actually am very curious about how Intrust will sound when it's full and raucous!

                            See you all there!

I bought my tickets yesterday at Intrust and they did ask for my code. So someone already corrected them or there were only a few isolated incidents where the cashier just forgot to ask.

the tried it, it was a failure.

The layout IBA and hold back of tickets doesn't allow for 1 to 1 assignment of equivalent seats. The process they have now works much better than when they did include it in season ticket package.
