I googled whether Barnes was out and an article from Dallas-FW started an interview with a local "in the know" who said it was a possibility; the next 4 questions were about football! No doubt he'd be second fiddle to the pigskin there... don't know how he'd like THAT. But, Mike Kennedy talking so MUCH about it makes me think he has some inside vibe that we don't know...I can only hope Barnes is fired this year and FVV and Ron Baker come back, making it impossible for HCGM to take any other job.

I think the "inside vibe" on Texas has been there for a few years... just no point in talking about it....Kansas is Flat. The Earth is Not!!

I've got a lot of UT friends and they always ask me about Gregg Marshall. They are frustrated that Barne's has done so little with the talent he brings in. They had 2 really good runs, the Durant year, and the TJ Ford year. In their opinion, they should be competing with KU for the conference every year and making deep runs in the tourney. They have the recruits, the facilities and the resources to match anyone in the country. To Barnes credit, he is excellent at working the alumni and administration, so everyone likes him, which makes it tough to let him go. It will be interestiing to see how this one plays out.

There are Texas basketball fans? Or are these Texas football fans that realize another sport exists and would like to add championships in that sport to their bragging when they are talking football?
Their arena would seem to indicate the latter.
