Bret Strelow also keeps us at #16. Looks like we'll have a marginal gain in points this week, but hard to say how that translates to the ranking slot. Probably a jump to 15 or staying at 16, depending on whether Baylor gains enough to leap us (it looks like they might from early returns).

Jerr Palm was on the Border Patrol this morning talking Bracketology. Has Baylor as a 3 seed and the Shox as a 6 with a ceiling of a 4.
My guess is that a lot pollsters are of the same mind, not thinking of how high we go, but instead, who jumps us..Kansas is Flat. The Earth is Not!!

Shocks move up to #15 in the AP. No link showing vote totals yet.
edit: Here it is.
I don't have much of a gripe re: us moving up a spot following last week, but boy did Notre Dame ever get a free pass for the brutal ass kicking they received at Cameron. Also, UNC staying in place following a weak win against BC and a double digit home loss to UVA is pretty generous.Last edited by Play Angry; February 9, 2015, 12:29 PM.

"Despite losses over the weekend to previously unranked foes, Kansas and Arizona are still the seventh and eighth ranked teams in the nation (following Virginia, Gonzaga, Duke, Wisconsin and Villanova). Also, following a 30-point loss to Duke on Saturday, Notre Dame also held steady at 10th overall. In fact, the only top-15 team that saw a rather large tumble was Iowa State, who dropped from 11th to 14th following its loss in Allen Fieldhouse to Kansas. Go figure."
Kentucky is still the unanimous No. 1, but the lack of movement throughout the poll despite losses is the overriding theme of this week's poll.
"It's just merely an observation regarding the jumble in college hoops this season, where it seems like there are legitimately 30 or so teams that could make a Sweet 16 run or even further."Kansas is Flat. The Earth is Not!!

Honestly, I might prefer WSU being a 6 seed over a 5. I think there are 3 or 4 elite teams and then a lot of really good teams. I'd rather play a 3 seed (
Iowa State, Utah, Louisville, UNC) and then a 2 seed (KU, Arizona, Villanova, Wisconsin) than playing a 4 seed (UNI, Baylor, Oklahoma, Notre Dame) and then a 1 seed (UK, Virginia, Gonzaga, Duke). We have to play well, but I think we could beat most the 2 and 3 seeds. I'm not sure even if we play well that we have much of a chance to beat most of the 1 seeds. Obviously this is assuming we win our first round game. I used Lunardi's latest bracket for seed projections.

This week's breakdown of who voted us where.
Highest: 10 (Doug Doughty, Scott Mansch)
Lowest: 19 (Andrew Carter)
Most Common: 15 (eighteen voters)
46 out of 65 voters slotted us at either #14, 15 or 16. Pretty strong consensus.
