    Disagree.

You can add revenue outside FB only one major way... NCAA Tourney.

Basketball only schools are thenway to invrease revenue for the conference without diluting the FB pie.

Every last person that repeats this "basketball killed the Big East" crap is an idiot.

I don't care if it's the AAC or MWC. We just have to be out of the MVC.

I agree we need to get the hell out of the Valley, but I don't really like the MWC. I mean if we got the invite I think we should be gone, but I much prefer the AAC. First off most of the schools in the AAC are in the central time zone. I don't like the idea of Shocker games starting at 9PM if played in CA. Second, some old MVC (when it was worth a ****) rivalries would return (Cincinnati, Tulsa). Finally most of the members of this league are public schools in metropolitan areas so institutionally we are a fit.

Our support, facilities, and performance puts us on another level especially since sCUm left. Time to move up and get out of the dumpster the MVC is sure to become.

Hmm ... basketball only schools won't count in the new NCAA voting structure for D1, will they? That would have been a great way to get the B12 to expand.

The point is, we can debate which of the two is better, but that only matters if we have a choice.

The only thing that is truly important is that either is a huge upgrade over the MVC. And staying in the MVC long term is terrible.

I'd prefer the AAC (although I think Cinci is gone), but really, I don't care. The MWC or AAC would both guarantee long term relevancy. First one that's open, take it and run.

To me, it looks like the clear split puts Cincinnati in the East. The Queen City is in the Eastern time zone, so I think it fits over there, leaving the door WIDE OPEN for a western school. That's just me though.

The AAC is a better option than the MWC. Coverrage of the West Coast doesn't really happen on the East Coast. Even the Mountain Time Zone is a bit dicey for getting coverage on the East Coast. Another disadvantage of the MWC is the schools that are at high elevation. Road games are tough enough without giving the home tem an altitude advantage.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I still like the idea of mega basketball only conference. I wouldn't be upset if geography wasn't taken into account and teams like us, Gonzaga, VCU, St. Louis, Dayton, Davidson, and others where included. Probably could be better then the "Big" East.

My concern with the MWC and the AAC is that the football programs in both of these inferences are about to become much more expensive and that there might be some schools hat opt out and leave, or worse yet, some that spend and move into a power 5.

BTW, the Big East was founded as a basketball league and only later added football.

Every time fans of teams brand new to the Big East talk about the BE, even when you're acknowledging a divide between what actually happened, you manipulate your terminology to make the basketball teams the badguys.

The basketball members didn't have "their own agendas." The agenda of the BE was basketball. Basketball is what created the conference. The "basketball only members" you're referring to were founding members of the Big East. Their agenda WAS the BE.

Every single member of the AAC has their "own agenda": to develop their football program enough to move up to a better conference. Every Memphis fan, coach, and administrator secretly hopes they can join the ACC or the B12 or the SEC at some point. It's only the new BE members that don't have an agenda beyond the success of their conference. And while I'd love for WSU to be able to join the AAC, it's hilarious watching AAC fans pretend they don't have that agenda while attacking the "basketball schools" for "killing" a conference that only had one football playing member left that was in the conference prior to 2005. And if WSU was to join, we'd do so knowing that we would be the only team in that conference fully committed to that conference, because every single school with football will always have the secret agenda of leaving the conference.

I just love the delusional attitude from CUSA members that say those founding members somehow screwed over a bunch of CUSA teams that just joined. Who cares if the founding members had been screwed over multiple times by football teams abandoning the conference ... what's really important is that Memphis didn't get the payday they were hoping for.
