Our front court will be REALLY strong with Shaq Goodwin, Austin Nichols, and Nick King. (Along with Woodson/Iverson off the bench)

Do you really think UNI/SFA would draw much more if they were playing at 1:00PM instead of 8:00AM? Maybe a little, but I doubt the difference would be significant. The reason WSU vs Memphis will draw big numbers is more due to the quality and brand of the teams than the time slot IMHO. Of course, that's why the WSU game is at a preferred time slot.

Depends on if 200-300k is considered significant or not.

WSU - Memphis will draw big because there's nothing else on in the afternoon. People will choose between WSU - Memphis and Law & Order: SVU re-runs. Being WSU and Memphis certainly helps, but I'm betting that the numbers wouldn't be "significantly" different if other teams were playing in our slot. No one will choose anything during the UNI game because no one watches television at 8 AM.

That's a lot of stars behind those player's names. Good thing our team isn't intimidated by stars. The youngin's from Memphis will have their hands full for an early test and our new guys will get a glimpse of how to play against a bunch of serious athletes.

Some similarities and some differences between the Shocks and the Tigers:

Both teams have only 5 scholarship players on their rosters with D-1 experience.

The Shocks are introducing 4 Fr, 2 RFr, and 2 Juco transfers to D-1 basketball. 3 of the Shocker Freshmen went the prep school route so they all have an extra year of maturity under their belts.

The Tigers are introducing 2 true Fr, 1 RFr, 1 So who did not play or practice with the team last year, 1 RSo has a D-1 RS year and 1 year of Juco ball, and 2 Juco transfers. I think both of the Tiger freshmen also went the prep school route.

Both teams lost their leading scorers. The Shocks lost 6-8, 220 Cleanthony Early (16.4 PPG, 5.9 RPG) and the Tigers lost 6-1, 174 G Joe Jackson (14.1 PPG, 3.6 RPG).

However, overall Memphis will have to replace 62.5% of its scoring while the Shocks will have to replace 39.8% of their scoring.

Memphis has to replace 64% of its available minutes. The Shocks 38%.

Memphis must replace 52% of its rebounding. The Shocks 46%.

Memphis must replace 81% of its assists. The Shocks 16%.

Memphis does return 122 blocked shots (3.59 Per Game) vs 72 blocked shots (2.0 Per Game) for the Shocks.

Memphis returns 87 steals (2.56 Per Game) vs 192 steals (5.33 Per Game) for the Shocks.

Sounds like something that would be of great value. Our guys will only have 1 controlled scrimmage, an exhibition game and a home game against New Mexico State under their belts. The saving grace for the Shocks, however, is that we have such great leadership from our trio of returning guards that they can perhaps protect our newbies' weaknesses from being overly exploited.
