  • Less than $6 per month is bare bolts pricing. You probably aren't going to get a lot of frills for Shocker Madness. I do agree not having the radio pbp audio on for games is disappointing.

I like this post because it's a reminder that Darius is also able to play center. In fact, Darius is our best center as well as our best power forward at the moment. Regardless of how nice Nurger looked in the scrimmage, I think we may still see the starting 5 include Wessel at PF. There is nothing wrong with that lineup for most games...especially in the MVC. Wessel did look very comfortable and more than capable of holding down an important position. Heck, the only reason Wessel doesn't start at the 3 is because Cottton is just way too good.

One part of me wants to matchup in size really well with everyone we face because that is conventional and reliable. The other part of me would love to see Wessel have a surprise breakout year schooling 6'6" through 6'8" guys at the 4. Nothing worse than getting owned by a really strong, smart littler guy. I'd like to see Wessel wreck some people the way Tekele does. How fun will it be if he does that?

      • Bush starts simply because he's wearing EO's number and Gregg likes starting number 21. Doesn't mean he'll get the most minutes. Seriously, I can't really discount his minutes because I haven't seen him play. I do believe that with the non-con we have this year Gregg won't be leaning towards playing small ball.

Here's one for you. How about tall ball. Nurger gets minutes at the 3.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

That would be awesome until he fouls out in 6 minutes as his man blows past him.

            • Per the Eagle article from Friday 4 starters are locked in and three more have solidified a rotation position: BWam, Kelly, & Wessel. Holland is an off-guard right now. Henderson will be the third string PG with Baker backing up FVV and Cotton as the 4th string.

While it wouldn't surprise me to see Wessel start at the 4 at this point, I expect he will get less minutes there than Kelly. I imagine the 4/5 will be manned by DC, BW, RK and one of RN, TG, and SM. I think the 4th guy will change throughout the season.

The 1/2/3 are obvious with Wessel in the rotation along with one of RH, CH, and ZB. My guess is Holland early and Henderson late.

Thanks! I had missed this article and you saved me :) here's the section:

[Marshall said he has four starters locked in — VanVleet, Cotton, Carter and Baker — and a group of three or four more who might move up in the rotation. Wessel is certainly in that group and junior center Bush Wamukota and freshman forward Rashard Kelly are on most days.

“More important for me is whoever those eight or nine guys are going to be,” Marshall said.

                ▪ Baker will start the season as the backup point guard to VanVleet. Freshman Corey Henderson Jr. is on call behind Baker, as is Cotton. Holland is playing more at shooting guard.

“He’s improving his handle, but he’s more of an off-guard,” Marshall said.]

It would seem to me that the next few players outside of the top 7 named by Marshall would have to be Holland, Henderson and Nurger.

                • The more I think about, the more I think Wessel needs to come off the bench. We have almost no experience coming off the bench and can't afford having 3 newcomers in the game at one time when the 2nd unit comes in (especially early in the season). Wessel is a utlity guy that could play the 2, 3 or 4 depending on need. I'd rather see how the game is playing out and sub in Wessel to the right place, depending on circumstance. Guys like BWam and Kelly would do better to start out with the veteran group when they don't necessarily need to do a whole lot other than rebound and defend.

                  • I voted Nurger just based on you all's reports. I heard his nickname is Nurks, but have no earthly idea what that means. I'd like to see Kelly or Bush on the defensive end and then tag Shaq at half court to play offense. If EW had some more size to him and had a mid-range game, I would pick him to start, but I also like to have some experience coming off the bench. I will predict HCGM tries at least 5 different starting lineups prior to conference season just based on who looked good last.

                            • Not sure if this had been posted here yet or not. Marshall says he is going to start the five veterans; fred, ron, tekele, evan, and darius.

I would expect this lineup to stay the same as we start the early part of our schedule.

                              • There you go.

Evan starts. Not sure about red-shirts. BWam has a mild ankle injury. Nurger and Holland look ready to contribute.
