I realize I'm a little late with this, but autograph snubs don't "always" mean the athlete is a snob. It can though, lol. I had a class with a couple of Marshall's first recruits. Sometimes student athletes just aren't in the celebrity mind frames.. Clevin Hannah was always in the mood to sign autographs it seemed.. and kind to his fans on campus.

I have seen all these guys sign so many autographs and take so many pictures it's insane. Everyone likes to say well that would be so awesome to be them, and there would be so many cute girls that come up to you. In reality maybe 1 out 10 may be a cute girl and those other 9 wouldn't be much fun to deal with. I have seen so many dudes come up to these guys and what they were saying annoyed me, and I wasn't even talking to them. I do not envy these guys lives off the court as I would rather have my anonymity around people I don't know. In the 10 years or just under I have seen some of the basketball guys, I can attest I have never seen one of them do anything that represented the team or university in a negative way. The program is class act.

I certainly get what you are saying. I am sure the guys have had to learn to simply take the good with the bad. I am sure that it is annoying to deal with people approaching you all the time. I cannot imagine Ron not being able to go to the grocery store in his own hometown. During the streak, particularly late in the season, I am sure that all of the guys would get stopped on campus by fellow students. That said, the reason people act that way is because this is a special place and people here appreciate the team's success. You can name a handful of other student-athletes in some of the other sports over the past several years who also had massive success in their sport. Many of them walk around in complete anonymity and would kill to have the recognition and perks that basketball gets. Thankfully, it seems like Gregg appreciates being the big fish in the pond and is extroverted enough to embrace the attention.

As for your last two sentences, you cannot say that truer words are rarely spoken. No, in this case, truer words are NEVER spoken. Top-notch all the way!
