Totally agree. Would love to see Louisville and Cincy back on our schedule. An annual dust up with Gonzaga and/or Tulsa would be fine with me as well, the former due to our recent tourny battle and the later due to proximity and MVC ties. That Tulsa rivalry was pretty heated there for a while, in my opinion, probably as heated as some of you young-uns cling to re: Creighton.

The Cincy rivalry was pretty heated back in the day. I wasn't around locally when Wes and L'Ville were in the valley, but I can imagine that got folks emotionally involved as well.
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

I had the privilege of meeting Wes Unseld in Levitt arena in 1966/67, when Warren Armstrong (Jabali) was the Shocker star. He was a class act, I liked him much better than Armstrong.

Edit - The Cardinals pounded the Shockers in that game with Butch Beard and Unseld leading their way, final score was something like 90 to 60!

Poor analogy. I know I sure don't see KU as "the girl I want to date despite the fact that she keeps turning me down". Nobody on this board is arguing that we want KU to like us/WSU.

A better analogy is that KU is the bully. Ignoring the bully is usually the smart move, but getting the opportunity to square off with the bully in a fair fight and simply beat him down would provide ultimate satisfaction.

You are going to have to clarify what you mean by "better", but assuming you aren't talking moral supperiority and instead are talking wins and losses and likelihood of winning future national championships, I'll be the first to step up and say that I am that someone you are looking for, and I am not alone.

As for needing KU, let me re-post your first sentence with a different word bolded for effect.

"The question was who would you like to see."

This isn't about "needing" KU. It is about wanting to play KU. Separate concepts. The same arguments that are made to say we don't "need" KU could be made against any single team in Divison 1. There is not a single team out there, in and of themselves, that WSU "needs". There are simply teams that we, as fans, would like to see on the Shockers' schedule.

That's your interpretation. I took it a completely different way in that the article explicitly states "...Here are 10 other series we’d like to see, in order of priority — rivalries either rekindled after a hiatus or established." And to me the imperative word was "We" not "I" with "We" meaning the entire college bb nation as a whole. But hey that's just one fan's interpretation.

If you want to see WSU play Tulsa all you've needed to do the past several years, or will need to do next year, is buy a seat and set your butt in it.

NO, BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE TOTALLY HAPPY UNTIL YOU CAN DANCE WITH KU, WILL YOU! ADMIT IT!

JH4P: I don't see the Bully analogy at all. KU isn't bullying us, they aren't smacking us around, nor are they stealing our lunch money. Their athletic department is doing what we should be doing. They are ignoring us and that is what pisses people off. Whining about some team or someone not wanting to play with you is childish. Not only that, iT IS INSULTING, It makes us look little.

You are right, JH4P - I was sticking only to BB. End of season record and Wins and Loses was as deep as I am going.

I understand where you are coming from and partially agree. We don't need to play KU to have a tremendously successful BB program. GM has proven that. And sometime, perhaps prior to the end ot this century. KU will reluctantly condescend to play us even though they (athletic department, students, whomever) might believe they are vastly superior to us in every other aspect as well.

But to say that a number of shockernetters do not NEED KU is not entirely true either. Even during our last two great seasons, in the height of making it to the Final Four and going undefeated into the NCAA tournament, many were still commenting on KU in virtually every topic dealing with BB. Guarantee you, the day after we win the National Championship, KU will be right there in our posts.

If that is not NEEDING KU, what the hell is it?

If bemoaning the fact that KU won't play us or wishing they would is what turns you on, so be it. But until it happens, be happy with the tremendous success we are presently rolling in and enjoy every moment of it.

Do KU fans need WSU? We were on the front page of phog.net the entire season. At one point there were 4 WSU topics on the front page and I think one of them was the most popular topic on their board at the time.

same old weird "i demand you leave ku out of it!!" creeps on here.

phuckin weirdo's. wichita state should play a blood blood school every year, starting with ku, in a perfect world. 'shockers need to play in big early season tournaments is their only way, though, appearantly. early in marshall's career here, that was happening- georgetown, michigan state, uconn etc. when is that going to happen again?

Is blood blood the same as blue blood?

Or, did you mean blood bath?

WE don't need K-who and I really could care less about them. I rarely read articles about K-who because it is always tainted with alot of bias i've noticed over the last week their has been an article about the Hawks about everyday in the Wichita Eagle. I read the headline then move on. I would love to see some old valley foes play us home and home, and I'm not talking Tulsa. Cinncinati and Louisville would be great. Also SanDiego St. or how bout Dana Altmans Oregon club, that could be some fun, he knows all about playing at Koch arena...

We (WSU, all of us, whatever collective you are talking about) don’t need KU… that is true... and nobody is/was saying that.

Addressing individual posters' "need" of KU is atleast a fair starting point for conversation, as some posters are indeed boarderline obsessed with the topic.

I think people get too uptight about things that interest other people just because they don’t share that same interest. Of all the posts about KU on this board, a surprisingly large % of them are complaints from people not interested in playing KU about those who are interested.

If playing KU isn’t of great interest to you, I can respect that.
If playing KU is of great interest to you, I can also respect that.
                              Different people have different interests.
Personally, I find that ignoring posts you aren’t interested in is better than trying to shut down conversation all together.

                              That is all.
