It is, but especially in the Valley we will play 3 and 4 "guards".

I imagine Glass and Kelly will rotate when matchup opportunities present themselves.

I think Glass or Kelly or both will see plenty of minutes and dictate the match up. They should make the 4th guard on other Valley teams look silly. Both are capable of shutting down SFs that play on the perimeter and taking them on the bounce or posting them up.

And who sits while they play?

See post # 8 in this thread. I like one of them to win the back up PF spot. Holland doesn't make my rotation.

Well, more power to ya. I also prefer not to have hair in what I eat. However, in regards to Tom, I could care less.

Who will buy into and be able to deliver defense and rebounding as espoused by 3G? If you can answer that question you will have gone a long way towards figuring out rotations and playing time. I don't see 3G changing his philosophy one teeny bit in that regard.

I've only seen the returning four starters + Wessel play. Everyone else is new. Therefore, I vote for those five because I will only vote for players who I've seen play (maybe that would change if we had a 4 or 5* recruit. Maybe I'll be more informed after the inter-squad scrimmage. With all the new blood, this should be a fun year.

Early in the season, Marshall tends to go with experience - even if there is better, but less experienced, talent on the roster.

4 starters is easy. VanVleet, Baker, Cotton, and Carter. Past that we are going to get a quick glimpse about how Morris is responding to what the coaching staff demands.

Morris is the only other post player with anything resembling experience. It's not game experience, but he's had a year to learn how to play Marshall's game. If Morris is not the starter, it's an indication that a new player is better able to play Marshall's system than Morris can play it after a year of working with it.

That would mean that either Morris isn't "getting it" or a new player is absolutely tearing it up and an unusually quick learner. I'm going with Morris being the 5th starter.

I kink of buy this reasoning, except that Shaq's experience is so limited as to make it moot. I do expect Wessel to be he first guard off the bench early with the same justification.

I generally agree with this with the caveat that JUCO players often get a shot fairly quickly with Marshall, so either Tevin or Tom getting the starting spot wouldn't be surprising at might not indicate too much about Morris.

I agree with TMH and have Shaq, Bush, and Glass as competing for the final starter spot with DC playing the 4 or 5 depending on who he plays with. Also as we saw with the 5 spot last year HCGM can go with a three-four man rotation at a position with each playing 10-15 minutes. That could happen at the 5 this year though it just as easily could settle onto two guys with a third getting a little time.

Based on last year's statistics, if VanVleet, Baker, Cotton, Wessell & Carter had played 40 minutes a game, the team box score would have looked like this:
                                Returning 5 WSU Actual
                                FG% .............. 47.0% .......46.2%
                                3FG% ...............37.0% .......35.1%
                                FT% ................74.5% ........72.5%
                                Points ..............67.1 ........... 75.1
                                Fouls ...............16.7 ........... 17.0
                                Reb ..................31.2 .......... 34.7
