Mizzou Fan Here With a Few Questions

Okay, thanks -- I suspected his age might be working against him with some, but it's interesting to know your concern about recruiting. Presumably you aren't the only who feels that way, so I can see why that could be a problem.

There are lots of examples of coaches who can recruit (see Frank Haith) but they can't get the right kind of kids to play together or can coach them up. There are many fine coaches out there that are at the top of their abilities in their current positions, and can do everything well at their current level. I think Kim Anderson is one of them.

The constant refrain from Shocker fans is that the Marshall to MU rumor is pure fantasy created by MU fans. It may be pure fantasy. Its hard to say who created the rumor. But I do know that media outlets have been throwing it out there. You can choose to believe that Frank Boal doesn't know what he is talking about. He might not. But he is definitely adding fire to the rumor. So, clearly, the "fantasy" isn't something confined to MU fans in CoMO. Its a rumor, just like other rumors, that is being discussed by media outside of CoMo.

Or maybe it is taking this long because Alden is working on his fourth coaching hire and the board has him on a short leash. Just as plausible as Frank Boal's "guess."

Seriously. Marshall turned down UCLA last year. That offer was reportedly $2.6 million. How do you guys even think you can compare to one of the all time great bluebloods in a major metropolitan area? Columbia is in the middle of nowhere. Missouri is a football school. Missouri basketball is a major project.

The Board of Curators said, "No announcement," after the meeting. That can only mean one thing: a coach needs to meet with his team to let them know before the official announcement. That rules out Howland and Anderson, whose own boss was tweeting his support for Kim getting the job. Not saying it's Marshall, but I've seen nothing that would rule him out. It could also be another solid coach too. Either way, we should know by tomorrow.

Or they could have said "no announcement" because news like this is conveyed via a press conference, not a proclamation from closed doors as if a new pope has been selected.

How about 3 mill a year to stay in a part of the country he likes coaching and living in? I live in Kansas City, and I would hate living in L.A.

This isn't just Mizzou fans speculating, the media is in on this too. If I were a Shockers fan, I would want Marshall to say he was staying.

All good points...almost all. Btw, I'm not dreaming about any coach. I was just pointing out that the media is stirring the story. I dropped by to see if there was even the slightest concern by shocker fans. I see none. As far as regretting the day I signed up for this account, its probably safe to say it won't make the list of my more regrettable choices...even in the past month. But I appreciate the sincere sentiments.
