When Coach Bryant left Texas A&M for Alabama in 1956, he said, "Mammy is calling me home."

Call me crazy, I suspect Coach Marshall will be here, until Mammy calls him home.

There is something special about the deep south that some folks are reluctant to give credit.

Of course, I could be all quirky and wrong again.

Lets be honest...Mizzou is a better job than Tennessee. And, does have some perks that WSU might not have. But, Haith bailing is a sign of distress. 1 sub par year and you're on the chopping table? Doesn't sound like an ideal situation. Marshall has spent 7 years building this program and everything is set for several more years of continued success due to returning players, national recruiting recognition, and a continuing to grow fan base. Regardless of the money or incentives, it'd be pretty hard to leave for anyone after the last 7 years effort!

Mizzou is so bad, ******* wouldn't even list Marshall as a candidate.

I feel it is a better job from the last decades level of success and a decent alumni base. Not saying that I think anything overly positive of the athletic department. Just a comparison of the coaching vacancies.

Tennessee is a better job but has a more insane fan base. We have nothing to worry about from either school though.

I don't think Tennessee or Missouri are that far apart one way or the other. Sans Kentucky and Kansas, the Big 12 may have the edge as a conference.

If we look at their histories from the 60's forward, Missouri also has the edge. Conference titles 8-6, conference tourney champs 8-1, NCAA appearances 24-20, S16 6-7, E8 4-1. Note, I didn't count the vacated NCAA appearance and E8 run in 1994.

Tennessee has had more success in the Dance since 2000 (thanks to Pearl), but both teams have made 9 appearances.

Tennessee and Missouri are both in the SEC aren't they? What's the Big 12 have to do with anything? Of course, all of the conference re-alignment some sensical and some nonsensical is confusing as hell.

Sorry. Old habits are hard to break. Got caught up in looking up their records. I'll use the Big 12 as the conference Missouri built up most of its records.
