Congrats to Coach Jans and I agree with the other posts regarding his importance to the team and being the number two guy. And 3G has not been bashful about selling Jans as a D1 coach, especially this year with all of the media attention the team has received, Marshall has been quick to point to his staff, in particular, Jans, as being a big part of the success. I think the hiring of Forbes last year was a pretty good signal that HCGM was looking to today and was an effort to stack the bench as he is known for doing.

Very happy for Bowling Green as they will be making some waves soon.

Does anyone have a take on the BGSU fan's reaction to this hire. Anyone with link to their message board?

I found this board but it looks like football is all that is discussed: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=337

Bet dollars to donuts the committee will "accidentally" or "just happen" to match WSU and BGSU in the tournament, once HCCJ (weird to say) gets their program up and running...

6-years starting @ $325,000 per and no doubt with some incentives. Nice jump in income for Chris. Got get 'em Coach and show them the Shocker way.

One poster had Jans as his first choice weeks ago.

I wonder if he'll take Devon Smith along with him? Some familiarity might be a good thing.

Devon being from area couldn't hurt, but I don't think he's ever recruited.

Looking at their roster, they don't seem to have to drive very far too get players.

Man, reading the comments on their fan site is just depressing me even more than I already was! But I'm still excited for Coach "Joe Pesci" Jans and wish him the best over there in Ohio.

A very nice salary. I think that I remember Florida Gulf Coast only paid the Asst. Coach from KU $225,000. Coach Jans was a candidate for that job too. Money wise this is much better.

I am sure this is a great opportunity for him. Looks like the AD is willing to spend the money for him and he has nice facilities to help recruit. I am sure he went into this with both eyes wide open and got some assurances about supporting the program and what the vision is for the program. We will miss you coach.
