Looks like if programs want eyeballs, schedule either UK or WSU. (Hell, the the two should just schedule each other)
uofl-wsu (last final four) was a record breaking (attendance and viewership) game also. people putting down the shockers today are straight up haters. that game was epic to anybody with two eyes.

Not sure if this was it, but that was the year that UTEP knocked off 1 seed Kansas in the Round of 32. Back before I was old enough to know any better, I rooted for the Jayhawks and got my first taste of the March Madness upset bug from this game.

I certainly don't remember or know for sure, but I'm guessing perhaps UCLA - Louisville.

Can someone please explain what a 7.9 rating means? Thanks!

                    Sorry,

It means 7.9% of all TV's in america were tuned into the game. I don't know what the total "share" is. For example it's usally listed as 7.9/15 which would mean 7.9% of TV's were watching WSU-UK while 15% of TV's in America were on during that time frame meaning, hypothetically, WSU-UK got more than half of the viewing in the United States in that time frame.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

Not quite. Rating is the percentage of households with TVs watching the game. Share would be the TVs turned on who were watching the game. For years, until some Super Bowls came along to top it, the MASH finale held the record with a rating of 60.2 (percent of TV households watching) and a share of 77% (TVs turned on watching it).

EDIT: I actually think MASH still holds the ratings/share record. Super Bowls have passed it in number of viewers. Part of the reason that MASH had such a high rating was that there weren't as many TV channels to choose from in 1983, so there was less competition for viewers. It goes along with Jeff Foxworthy once talking about TV as a kid. "We had three channels, and if the President was on, your night was shot!"

                              • I haven't said anything until now since I wasn't sure what to say, or if I wanted to say anything.

This was absolutely not how this season was supposed to end. But at the same time, this is also exactly how the season was supposed to end. That feels weird to say, but I believe it 100%. We were supposed to make a deep run in the tourney, so it hurts having such an abrupt and early end to the season. But even in defeat, the season ended exactly like we could have only hoped it would. There aren't any doubts that the entire team played their tails off and left everything they had out on the floor, which is all we as fans can ask for. And it took a team with 7 or 8 future NBA players on it playing by far their best game of the season to beat the Shockers. Even then, they only won by two points. I couldn't be more proud of how these team members have carried themselves, both on and off the court, all season long. I hate that it took so long, and especially that it took a loss like this, but I'm thrilled for them that they are finally getting the universal respect that they deserve.

From a selfish standpoint, I'm kind of upset at myself, feeling like I shortchanged myself during the game. I was getting so into the game, and was so hung up on each missed opportunity and perceived missed call, that I never was able to fully appreciate just how great of a game I was watching. The thought was there in the back of my mind, but I was caught up in the moment to be able to take a step back and see the big picture as it was unfolding.

It's amazing how WSU basketball has been drawing me in more and more each year. I've really only followed the Shockers closely for the last 5 or so years, so I have nothing on many of the other posters here, but I'd like to think that I'm far from a bandwagoner as well :D Illinois has always been my #1 team with the Shockers #2, but the difference in my enthusiasm when watching Illini games vs Shocker games was always pretty dramatic. But I can effectively say that gap has closed considerably. It's been mounting for a couple of years, but the Shockers have got me hook, line and sinker.
