Hard to think a team could beat 3 tougher teams in a row then Kentucky did not every day you play a 35-0 team, a team that many felt was a #2 seed as a #4 and a real #2 seed that some thought was a #1

basically 3 #1 seeds in a row in some eyes
This just irritates the hell outta me. THE ONLY REASON PEOPLE TRY TO SAY GONZAGA was a week 1 seed was because they got bounced by a stellar Wichita State team that put it all together come tourney time. The same team that stormed the final four by beating Ohio state and giving Louisville, the eventual national champs, their best game of the tourney.

Now fast forward to this year. The Shocker's got bounced by a TEAM THAT PUT IT ALL TOGETHER come tourney time. And your guys needed the best game of their careers to win against the Shockers, by one bucket. They were banking in three pointers and everything. And don't bring up baker's banked three either, that should've been "and 1", but his name isn't Harrison.

So the Zags are weak because they got bounced by the Shocks. Are the Shocks weak cause they got bounced by Kentucky?

I said before the tourney "whoever comes out of the Midwest wins it" and after the game I said "If Kentucky plays like that, they win the whole damn thing."

That's how good this Shockers team from the MVC is. You guys needed absolutely everything you had to beat the shocks, and you bounced Louisville & Michigan at less than full strength.

Not sure I agree. NBA prospects or not, they are still freshmen, and most haven't developed "the attitude" yet. Also, show me a Division 1 scholarship basketball player who doesn't think they are an NBA prospect. The difference isn't that great, other than on the recruiting end of things. Marshall would do just fine with a fist full of 5 star players.

Now getting your players to buy in to your system is a whole 'nother problem. I believe Marshall can get 5 star players all the way down to "project" players to buy in to his system. I don't know enough about Calipari to say that that's true, but i suspect if properly motivated he wouldn't have any problems doing so.

Not arguing here, but according to Ken Pomeroy, WSU's road to the final four last year was the toughest in 11 years. It would not surprise me at all if the Region of death was tougher, although I was surprised to see KenPom (if I recall correctly) say that the Midwest region (allegedly) was not the toughest region this year.

        • @ESPNStatsInfo: Via @eliassports Kentucky is 1st team to eliminate both the defending champion and defending runner-up from the NCAA Tournament.

When Pomeroy says the Midwest region wasn't the toughest, he's talking about from top to bottom, I believe. The lower-end was pretty weak, and other regions had more quality depth beyond the top four seeds. But that won't have any bearing on how difficult UK's path was.

                • @ESPNCBB: Kentucky rebounded 63% (17 of 27) of its missed shots, the Wildcats’ highest offensive-rebounding percentage in the last three seasons.

                  • @GlobeBobRyan: Wichita State was the best thing that has ever happened to UK. Cats had to rise to Shockers' level and now they are FF bound. You heard me.

Crazy. With us, they beat three of last year's Final Four teams.

I don't know if Kentucky will win the championship, but you have to give it to them for surviving the region of death. That was an extremely tough lineup of teams they've gone through to get to this point.

Anything is possible. I don't see Marshall doing well with elite AAU guys that have gone almost their entire basketball careers without playing defense and are just buying time in the one season of college ball they have to play.

I think he'd have a heart attack before the season was over.

Haha, yeah he'll go gray faster with one and doners but he'd figure it out. I dunno. Maybe we should try that experiment here at WSU?
