  • In the women's NCAA Tournament today:

#3 Penn State falls to #2 Stanford 82-57 in the Sweet 16.

    #3 Louisville blew-out #7 LSU 73-47 also in the Sweet 16.

You generally don't see that kind of blow-out in the men's game especially teams seeded that high.

Well OK, I guess there was a 3 seed that lost to a 6 seed by 30 points in the round of 32 on the men's side this year, but it's not like that losing team had the National POY on its roster. Well OK, maybe it did. I suppose that was an embarrassment for Creighton. But that's OK, wait till next year.

That Lee kid was certainly a reasonable facsimile today.

Please don't remind me of the 1997 team also the 1997 Arizona team was a 4 seed...UK is an 8 seed which makes it doubly amazing for an 8 seed to make the Final 4.

        • Next Saturday is going to be fantastic. Florida-UConn and Wisconsin-Kentucky should be great television and basketball. I'm thinking a UConn-Kentucky national championship.

And WSU was a 9-seed last year, which is even more impressive :)

But really, UConn making the Final Four is much more of a shocker than Kentucky. Of course that should be followed by IMO.

                1997 Arizona as a 4 seed's run to the final 4

Beat 13 seed South Alabama 65-57
                Beat 12 seed Charleston 73-69
                Beat 1 seed Kansas 85-82
Beat 10 seed Providence 96-92 in OT (damn I wish Providence had won that game knowing what I know now)

So their run involved beating 3 teams seeded 10, 12 and 13.

I think UK's run was much more impressive beating and undefeated #1 seed, a team that should have been a #2 seed and another #2 seed.

Just saying...and ya I hate that Arizona team still.

                • UConn being in the Final Four makes me sick to my stomach. Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't think they're any good at all. I don't particularly like Florida but I'm going to enjoy seeing them beat UConn by about 15.

                    • tough road for kentucky, but they did it. every game, a war.

john randle is like waymon tisdale (may he rip), but with better teammates and an overall better team.

if calipari is a bad coach, they don't beat wichita state.

Not taking anything away from Wichita State last year but they beat an 8 seed, a 1 seed which many thought was weak in Gonzaga (just saying), a 13 seed and a 2 seed.

Hard to think a team could beat 3 tougher teams in a row then Kentucky did not every day you play a 35-0 team, a team that many felt was a #2 seed as a #4 and a real #2 seed that some thought was a #1

basically 3 #1 seeds in a row in some eyes

I agree coming into this tournament I never thought UCONN could make it but it still was a longshot for Kentucky I mean it wasn't but a month ago they lost to South Carolina and many ok UK's board was calling this team as bad as the 2013 team and some there "couldn't wait" until the season was over.

I would have agreed with you before the tournament (other than the Florida nailbiter), but their tournament run has been great. While not as daunting as Kentucky's, I think they've had the second toughest road to Dallas.
