You guys are fortunate to have that in your coach and I think that is what drives some of the Mizzou fans' obsession with Marshall. He reminds them of Norm Stewart in that sense, especially prior to the end of his career.

That is certainly good news for you guys. Not so much for us. Either which way, I'll be glad when our search is over so I can get back to work.

Hard to know if it really means much one way or the other, but I will say Paul is generally not one who speculates a lot or hypes situations one way or the other.

Also, again not sure if it has any bearing on this situation, but I'm sure you are probably familiar with Charles Koch whose large, privately held conglomerate, is headquartered in Wichita. In an interview this past season Coach Marshall was asked what person he admired most. I thought he would say maybe his father, or perhaps one of his Coaching mentors, Hal Nunnally or John Kresse, who he has always spoke very highly of or maybe our former AD Jim Schaus who enticed Coach Marshall to come to Wichita. I was actually a little surprised when he said it was Charles Koch. Yes Charles is a big financial supporter although what he gives to the WSU program is petty cash for him. The point is here you have a multi-billionaire who could live anywhere on the planet and he chooses to remain in Wichita, Kansas. I think that is bound to send a message to a man who holds you in such high esteem. Coach Marshall obviously has had some interesting converstions with Charles during his time in Wichita.

Knew of him, did not know the story. Many thanks. I don't know that anyone is following it closely enough to care, but for those that do, as for information or media Mizzou related, I probably put more stock in Dave Matter than anyone else. I've seen Burwell mentioned, but he's really more of an editorial type of writer who spouts off controversial stuff just to stir the masses. Matter, for the most part, just reports facts and avoids a lot of the speculation. For example, he won't even entertain questions in his chats about the chances of landing a recruit and won't even voice an opinion as to whether or not a recruit will have an impact. He always just says he'll wait and see who signs and once they sign, he'll just wait and see how they peform on the court or field. Just thought I'd pass that along.

Yeah, we have our version of Bryan Burwell. His name is Bob Lutz and he is a sports columnist for the Wichita Eagle meaning his job is to try to be controversial and to stir the pot. Paul Suellentrop, the beat writer, is generally more like Dave Matter. Usually pretty down to earth, fact oriented and balanced.

If that's true -- and *******'s sources have not been all that reliable recently, so it may or may not be -- it speaks highly of Heiar (sp, Mr. ESPN!) to be considered along with a couple of guys with notable D-I head coaching experience.

Good for Greg, but surely would prefer to not lose TWO assistant coaches of the caliber of Greg and Chris in the same year. However, in 3G I trust.
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

                          • Marshall would never stand in the way of one of his assistants going to a head coaching job.

                            • Agreed, Shox21. That's one of the ways you get good assistants -- pick guys capable of climbing the ladder if they want to, and then help them do it in a way that makes sense for them.

I have to agree. Even if he leaves, Marshall could basically have his pick of assistants from just about anywhere. Having 2 assistants get HC jobs at other D1 schools would do nothing but make your program look better.
