I would think that Chris has learned from HCGM that you want a job with Fiscal and Physical resources to compete for championships in your league.

I don't know the answer, but I bet the number is quite small, if there are any at all.

I think Jans is going to have to get his shot from a school like one we will be playing Friday night.
Off the top of my head, Giacoletta (sp?) from Gonzaga. Obviously Drake is not a "major" conference team but it's also not at the level of a TX Southern or Cal Poly. He's paid his HC dues at the Juco level, various D1 assistant jobs, and has been the top assistant at a high level program for the past 7 years.

With the clout of WSU and a reference like Marshall I don't think Jans will need to start at the type of school you're suggesting (no offense intended towards TX Southern or Cal Poly). Plus I think he's in a good enough situation that he can afford to be choosy.

He did look at the FGCU job last year so you could be right.

Anyone know for sure what he makes? My guess is around 250,000.

Giacoletti was the Utah Head Coach back in the mid 2000s.

And Eastern Washington before that. In fact, he was a WSU assistant under Turgeon for about a week when he got the job at EWU.

One job to keep an eye on is Tulsa. Would not be surprised to see some feelers come Danny Manning's way.

throwing this Big question out here.... Is Jans as important to our success with HCGM as Boyle was for HCMT ... scary thoughts losing Boyle is what spelled huge trouble with HCMT

Marshall has already proven himself capable minus Jans while at Winthrop.

I hope Coach Jans does get a good head coaching position.

Obviously it'd be better for WSU to keep him, but it's also good for us long-term to lose him. We're going to be attractive to assistant coaches for the simple things: winning, ability to learn from a great coach, great pay, and the ability to become a head coach. All of the great head coaches create successful coaching trees from their assistants. And those assistant jobs become more attractive because of the success the previous assistants had.

The better job Coach Jans gets, and the more successful he is there, the more attractive our assistant coach positions are and the better selection Coach Marshall will have in the future to hire from.

He was an assistant at UNC, correct? That's a power-conference school.

I missread that as being an assistant at any school going straight to a head coaching gig at a power conference school.
