And by "making sure", we mean that he put his arm around Odum and then stepped aside, waiving his arms to the crowd to signal, "get up and cheer this guy"

    Wonderful sign of competitive respect.

I've always liked Odum. Tough. Smart. Great Leader. I've always liked Greg Lansing too. Good luck in the NIT. Hope you guys win the whole damn thing.

I've lways disliked Odum because he is really good and wasn't wearing a Shocker uniform.

Odum deserved an ovation from everyone in the building, regardless of what color shirts they were wearing. Baker made sure the WSU fans understood that and gave Odum the response he deserved when he came out of the game. I hope this starts a tradition among WSU players and fans.

I don't think I've ever seen any player give that acknowledgement to an opponent. I've watched a lot of basketball and I'm older than some dirt.

          It was an awesome moment.

An Indiana State fan mentioned that Early went over to the ISUb bench prior to the game and shook hands with everyone while wishing them the best.

Baker did something similar in high school during the 3A state tournament. It's just the type of person he is.

It's the type of person Ron is and really the type of players we are lucky to have in our program. The coach and staff really do a good job of recruiting quality kids who are willing to work hard and play as a team, and respect your opponent, no matter who they are. But their is something special about this group that is hard to explain, they just have the special blend of talent and brotherhood that only a team has. This type of team does'nt come along very often if ever. It's great to be a Shocker, and wow is this fun.

It was a GREAT game to witness in person and Baker's move was... wow. ISU's fans were really cool to me; I met quite a few. I don't really want WSU to leave the Valley... maybe we can attract some better schools to come join the fun.

Yeah I saw many tree fans that were yelling hard and cheering for their team. But after the game they all complimented our team and wished us luck. Was pretty cool..
Even sat behind a group of Illinois State fans who where rooting for the shocks and playing a poker game; they would draft players and every 2 points they would draw a card. Really a fun time.

I talked to an ISU fan after the game and he said how good our team is and how he hopes we win it all or the Valley. I think any true college basketball fan understands just how special this really is and there are several new WSU fans after this weekend.

Wish Odum and crew could have built a better resume and gotten to the dance. Would have loved to see it.

Is ISUb a lock for the NIT after their late season struggles? I will tune into the games and cheer for them if they are in.

I think the first place regular season team gets an auto bid to the NIT, and if they get into the NCAA the auto bid goes to the second place team. They made the change a few years ago after the NCAA took over the running of the NIT.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

I knew of the NIT autobid for regular season champs who don't make the NCAA, but I'm pretty sure the NIT auto bid does not transfer to the second place team. The NIT would be filled with small conference schools and I don't think that is the case.

According to NIT bracketology they are in as a six seed but that was before weekend upsets.

That is 6 seed out of 8 in their division

[QUOTE=wufan;474015]The others that don't like our team are the blue bloods we haven't beaten just yet.

Congratulations on a great season! Been following you guys since you nearly knocked our Cards out in last year's ff. I would say that our Louisville "Blue Blood" fan base has all the respect for you in the world for you Shockers, except that if I said that, some Kentucky troll would come on here and argue with me even thinking that we are Blue Bloods. All I know, is that more teams will fear meeting The Shockers or The Cards, then meeting The Twins in the tourney.

But, anyway, I have seen some brackets that would have us meeting again in the ff, if we are both so fortunate to make it back. IMO we are probably rated a little high now, but we are playing really well and who knows, we may bump into you guys again. Best of luck to you, at least until then. Not sure if you are aware, but Henderson is now known as "Wichita" here in Louisville. That is a tribute to you guys. We know what very well may have happened had he not hit those two shots! Again, good luck. Hope we see you really late in the tourney.
