The top 10 starts at roughly the $2.5M mark (assuming that link is creditable, which is not a foregone conclusion when one sees Boeheim at $1.9M). I would hazard a guess that WSU could put that together if need be. I haven't done a full run down of 3G's newest contract yet, but if it has incentives similar to the previous, then if WSU were to replicate last years F4 run, I bet Marshall wouldn't be off that mark by more than 10% or 15%.Originally posted by Ricardo del Rio View PostComment

It's interesting how many of those jobs don't offer incentives. Even though HCGM isn't on the list his incentives will easily put him in the top 25. Hasn't Marshall said or implied that we don't have to compete with football? So if Marshall ever left, it wouldn't be to a school which had football. That eliminates most, if not all, of the BCS schools. So with only non-BCS school to go to, why would he ever want to go from one non-BCS school to another non-BCS school to coach basketball?Comment

I would assume the two crowning goals of any Div 1 HC would be to win the National Coach of the Year Award and the National Championship.
Once GM accomplishes both this year and very possibly next year, our chances of retaining him for life improve dramatically as he will have proven what a great coach he is.
And to keep the fires burning, there is nothing to say he can't repeat these significant feats again and again at dear ol' WSU.Comment

The way it was listed in the article was "salary" and "other income" with both combined in "total compensation". Marshall will not leave Wichita due to money. Say what you want about Stephenson, but when told he couldn't win consistently and compete for the highest prize in baseball in Wichita, KS, he drew that as the line in the sand. He won consistently and won the grand prize. My hope is Marshall is cut from that cloth. Take it as a dare and consistently prove doubters wrong.Comment

I think 3G would coach at a school that plays football, as long as basketball was king. A place like Indiana University which is all basketball all the time and where Tom Crean has underperformed badly and has a base salary of 3.16M per season, might be a concern. But the good thing is Crean's contract runs thru 2020, so if IU fires him, that's a huge check, on top of what they'd have to pay his replacement.
