Hopefully he will turn down the 3 & 3.5 mil offers that will be coming

It is possible that he could jump up in class. Way up.

I wonder what it will take to get it 4x in a row. Another unbeaten run with no other program stepping up? Let's say SIU finishes 26-5 and WSU is 29-2 with another perfect valley record. Does Barry snag it for a great year even though they finished let's say 3 back?
IMO I thought he should have won it the year of the nit run. But if he had there is no way he would have won it last year for 3x.

They should keep giving it to him as long as he keeps performing at the level he is and the Shox don't leave the Valley. He's currently the Valley's only meal ticket.

Lusk got the vote for being the lone coach to give us a nailbiter (i.e. take us to OT).

Something to be said for a bird in the hand. And honestly, it's an awfully fat bird!

He turned down UCLA last year. I'm sure they were offering a lot of money.

I'm sure this is brought up every year but what is our ceiling financially? The value of this team and program to our city cannot be overstated.

At the same time I don't think coach would leave for more money alone. Plus I am hopeful we would be competitive in matching what would be thrown at him.

It seems like every job Marshall has turned down in his tenure at WSU would have been an approximately 200% pay raise at that respective point in time. He understands the concept that after some threshold the extra money is just immaterial property off somewhere being managed for future generation of your family.

I am a worrier in general in life, but for a quandary of reasons I don't worry whatsoever about 3G leaving WSU. I don't lose the slightest bit of sleep over the idea. Marshall and his entire family absolutely love it here - from the pay, to the love and support the program gets, to the fringe benefits. It is as if WSU is a mold that the Marshall family has been poured into. There are no voids.

I hope with all my might that you are right, Shock value. My fear is that eventually he will tire of getting constantly pounded for being in the Valley. I hope with all my might that I am wrong.

I should probably add that my life experience has conditioned me to expect a kick to the nads when things are going well.
One quick note before we present the rankings: With Wichita State’s move to the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers have moved out of the mid-major club. We wish the Shockers well against Cincinnati, UConn, SMU, and more.

Mind you, that's the sort of money that a program puts together ONLY if they're going after a specific person. It's not like even Texas is going to just go, "Hey, we have 3 and a half million sitting around! How about it?!"

So a school has to be desperate enough to raise that amount of coin for him, and HCGM has already said (numerous times) that he is not at all interested in another rebuilding project. Remember that he, for all intents and purposes, turned down UCLA last year. So it would have to be a very specific combination of lucrative AND a successful, established program. The only schools I can see doing that are the "bluebloods," with the most likely of them being UNC when Royboy retires.

So, in short, I'm not worried. He'll be pulling in over $2 mil here this season when it's all said and done, with a healthy pipeline of players and a program he can call all his own.

Most would consider UCLA a blueblood too. Yeah, sort of a "rebuilder" as of last year, but not on the same level as most "rebuilders." The UCLA name still has a ton of clout when you are out recruiting.

Coach has also implied he doesn't want to play second fiddle anywhere, so that rules out any school where football will be king. Texas, Oklahoma State, etc.

I think he will be at WSU at least until his kids graduate high school.
