Florida, Arizona, and WSU are all near locks for #1s.

KU and Virginia both seem like possibilities for the last #1, but honestly, I could probably list 5-6 teams that have a decent chance. I would agree that if KU wins the Big 12 Tourney, they are the frontrunner.

Although the relative merits of Owens as a coach provided the local papers with sufficient fodder to banter about, the most intriguing story line was easily the fact that the Wichita State Shockers were playing in the same regional as KU. Should both Kansas teams win their first two games, they would draw each other in the Sweet Sixteen, which was to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Of course this would be easier said than done, but if it were to happen, the Jayhawks would “have no choice,” as the University Daily Kansan asserted shortly after the brackets were announced, “but to play Wichita State.” The Athletic Department of the University of Kansas had apparently rebuffed repeated efforts on the part of the Shockers to arrange a meeting. For the “Shockers [had] long wanted to play KU,” the Kansan continued but, “the folks on Mount Oread [had] steadfastly refused.” As Wichita State was seeded sixth in the tournament, its fans could lay claim to supporting the best team in Kansas, at least until the two teams from the Sunflower State might square off on the hardwood.

The article fails to mention that we beat them with only three healthy starters. Ozell had been ruled ineligible for the tourney and PG Tony Martin had severe back spasms which limited his effectiveness.

A recent poll on Phognet indicates nearly twice as many Phog posters from JoCo than Lawrence.

Note: my dislike of JoCo centers on the hypocritical KU alums who hate mizzou and then look down on the entire state of Kansas outside of their tiny insignificant bubble. Those Shocker fans residing in JoCo are probably pollinating all that's good about Shocker Nation and helping in getting JoCoers (?) educated. That can't be a bad thing!

The worst part is the food. The Only decent place to get a burger that isn't a trendy franchise is on the JoCo WyCo border. Same for BBQ. OP was once described as designed by the same guy that invented cubicles. When I moved here in 1986,you could get a house in any color you wanted as long as it was Lenexa Biege.
