You just nailed it on the head, exactly. KU fans that are basketball fans are far different from those are just KU fans only.

They have to dis WSU because it threatens their insecurity.

Thats why I have to separate my disdain for KU into segments.

There are KU fans and there are KU basketball fans. I dont mind KU fans. I get annoyed by KU basketball fans.
      Nailed it.

So...are we still giving them props or not? Maybe some, but not others? Maybe a few here and there?

I say give them props and then whip their teams a** in the dance.

The KU community at large gets props. The number of nay-sayers left death gripping their t-shirts while staring at themselves in the bathroom mirror have diminished to tolerable levels.

            Marshall has achieved the impossible.

Now only a couple things left to do.

I agree. Give them props now. Give them a beating in the tournament. And then be good winners and give them props afterwards. I LOVE trash talk, but this game, provided that it happens, is a chance to build a little civility between both fanbases. And there will be plenty of opportunities for trash talk when a handful of their fans start flinging accusations of cheating after we win.

Not sure why we should give any props for simply acknowledging the obvious. Congrats you aren't stupid!

I also think some "secure" KU fans are pracks and some are not.

My best friend is a KU grad, but he attends WSU games and even has his own WSU merch to wear. He loves watching the Shox and he's one of the first to admit that KU's refusal to schedule WSU is complete bull****. He's absolutely confident that we get a 1-seed at this point, regardless of what happens at the MVC tourney.

Anecdotal to be sure, but they are out there.

KU has also done something pretty amazing this year with their 10th straight conference championship. I believe only three other teams in history have achieved this. No matter how you feel about KU, you have to admit that is a very impressive accomplishment. I also agree that KU fans have been more polite lately. However, if you want a laugh, go lurk on the Phog for a half hour and you will still find all the anti-WSU hate you could ever imagine. There is a portion of that board that is simply obsessed with us this year and they have dozens and dozens of WSU threads. They have a small portion of their board that really BELIEVES (not just hopes) that we will be the first #1 to lose to a #16 and that we are all smoke and mirrors this year. If you are the kind that can read that stuff without getting upset, it can be quite amusing to read their delusions over there.

One of my best friends growing up went to the flagship and he was able to finally hang out with a group that he was comfortable with. Kids that thought they were a little bit better, kids who thought their parents had a little more money, kids who were glad to get away from their parents and prove they could survive on their own with only their parents money to help prop them up. He came back to Wichita and had become more insufferable. In high school he was tolerable but not after he got edgumacated. He spent a great deal of time in KC because it was just so cool as compared to Wichita. His father let him "summer" in Colorado the year after his freshman year to "find himself". The year before his father got us summer jobs but it turned out to be a job that required a person to actually work and sweat a lot, so his dad found him a different job at Cessna making more money and less sweat. I kept my job even though he said I could work at Cessna also because I felt his dad had gone out of his way to find us jobs and I wasn't going to quit when it got tough. I felt better about myself but my friend thought I was stupid. That is kind of the way I see my friend the flagship grad and myself the WSU grad. Maybe I am blue collar.

Or most teams in the B12 doesn't really care about Bball - if they did they would challenge KU.

Pretty typical story regarding KU grads. Most that I know are insufferable. As near as I can tell, Kansas City residents think they live in some kind of combination of Paris/Vegas/New York. Fuggim.

I'm not buying that argument. I think KU's 10 straight titles is pretty damn impressive. This would have been our 3rd consecutive if we had not played our senior night game against Evansville last year like we needed a good cry as Coach Marshall stated. That kind of sustained excellence should be the next big goal for Shocker basketball. We are obviously well on our way over last 5 years with 142 wins and counting plus the Final Four run.

Those type of people crack me up. After going on and on about WSU's weak schedule, they forget that a weak schedule means playing lots of teams that are equivalent to, well, #16 seeds. Shouldn't we be saying that WSU will be the most proven #1 seed ever as far as ability to beat #16 seeds?

                              Ha.

You guys ought to try being around Texas grads down here. I thought it was bad with KU student's elite status; the longhorn folks are out of the stratosphere with their feelings of grandeur!
