  • I wasn't a huge fan of the Knicks, but I think it will work out well for him. It's where he's from. On Instagram he's mentioned his love for New York many times.

Most importantly, if melo leaves he should get A LOT of playing time at the 3.

      Yep.

Regardless of where he could have been drafted... He WAS drafted. That's Marshall's first draft pick, right? Next step is first lottery pick.

Congrats to Cle. Being in New York must be a dream come true for that man. Fuel the chip on the shoulder and go make that next contract bigger.

      • If Cle has any kind of agent at all, he could very well make more $ in endorsements than in salary. He has a great story, great attitude - hard not to like the guy. IMO, he gets WAAAAAY more in endorsement $ as a Knick than anywhere else.

Even if Cle isn't quite as skilled as the guy he is staring down, he's still going to beat him more times than not. That's due to just straight up killer instinct. It's difficult for NBA decision makers to see that in training sessions. It was clearly demonstrated in the very high level matches against Louisville and Kentucky, but I can see where these guys end up in data-paralysis with so many athletes to choose from.

I believe the reason why X goes as the 4th overall vs Cle in the upper 2nd round is the path they took to WSU. Cle didn't get the benefit of 4 years under Marshall, and doesn't have the long history of high level dominance at the college level to showcase that X had, or the dominance in the scoring/rebounding stats that X benefited from. But I think we are going to see some awesomeness out of Cle at the pro level, just based on that killer instinct and passion that we were all blessed to witness.
X had only 1 more year than CLE to perform. There was nothing in his freshman year that indicated he would be a first round draft pick. But boy, what a coming out party against the USSR!

I'm far from an expert, but as far as I can tell they let Toure become a free agent to give them flexibility, and now it looks like they have a ton of guards under contract (including a young guy in Shane Larkin). Unless they trade away a bunch of guys, I don't believe Toure will be back in New York.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

I think this is probably right. Trading for Larkin made it unlikely Toure returns.

Hopefully he is able to get a deal without having to do the basketball version of mortal kombat for a roster spot again.

Agree. But any player posting the type of numbers "X" did, wouldn't last four years in college today--unless his name was McDermitt.

                    • It hurt me alot to see Cle fall down to the second round. Kid deserved 1st round, and then some.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

                      • He'll be fine, wsushox1 -- he's dealt successfully with far greater adversity in his life than being a second-round pick instead of a first rounder.

                        • Gottlieb is a real piece of work.................one of his greater accomplishments................"After signing a national letter of intent with Notre Dame, Gottlieb was their starting point guard during the 1995-1996 college basketball season, starting all but the first four games and leading the team with 154 assists as well as steals and minutes played. However, Gottlieb's stint at Notre Dame would be short. During Gottlieb's freshman year, he was charged with stealing credit cards from a roommate and two others and fraudulently charging over $900 to those cards; Gottlieb has since stated that, after paying back the $900, he was allowed to say he was leaving Notre Dame, when in fact he was expelled."
