  • Why would anyone want Cle going to the Spurs which would very much put him at risk of slipping out of the 1st round, meaning no guaranteed contract and at the very least costing him millions. Anyone in their right mind want to see him at #17 with the most storied franchise in the history of the game.

And a coach that will get the max from him.

      • Had the opportunity to visit with the Suns owner. He mentioned his father in law lives in Pratt and goes to Shocker home games. Praised the program and said they had Cle coming in for a workout and liked his game.

              • Would someone please explain why Cle's age of 23 appears to always be commented on as a negative?

Most graduatiing seniors would be in the 21-23 age span. It might make more sense if he was 26-28, but 23?

I obviously must be missing something.

                • Most great players come out early. It's not a knock, just the writers looking for something to nit pick

Basically, a 19 year old coming out after his freshman year has 4 years to develop to Cle's talent level. Or, even though Cle will be a rookie, he needs to be able to compete against guys that have 2+ years in the NBA as he will be the same age.

Some scouts might look at Cle and believe that he has a limited ceiling based on his older than normal rookie year, and they might draft a more raw player with similar athleticism as the younger player will have the potential to surpass Cle in production as he develops and gains strength.

Cle is 23 and still somewhat raw. He's a first rounder because he's tall, athletic and has 3 point range. His age is held against him because he isn't as polished as the other seniors coming out of the draft.

                      • Thursday's the day. I don't remember ever being this excited for the NBA Draft.

What an exciting week for Cle- could not happen to a better guy.

                        • He keeps dropping in most the mocks I read. Espn doesn't even have him in the first round anymore

Hmmmm... somebody sounds like a Celtics fan -- BostonWu, possibly? Or maybe just a coincidence of geography.

And, 60, just keep in mind: draft analysts always nitpick. They seem to consider it their job to find fault.

That's ok, did you see the NFL draft this year and those jokers got so much wrong.

                              • Early hopes Shocker preparation viewed as plus by NBA teams

A prominent NBA general manager took Cleanthony Early to dinner as part of Early’s workout with the team. Early raved about Wichita State, so much so the GM said he felt compelled to leave coach Gregg Marshall a voicemail message.

The GM, whom Marshall didn’t feel comfortable naming, relayed Early’s strong feelings about the basketball atmosphere and the family feeling he experienced at WSU.

“He was big-time impressed with Cle and things Cle had to say about his time here,” Marshall said. “That really made me feel good.”
