If Marshall were to leave, it would likely be to a VERY HIGH level program. With Turgeon at Matyland and Marshall (if he left) probably at a higher-level program than that, there would likely be some qualified applicants.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

With a bad hire perhaps, but in and of itself, Marshall leaving does not stop this train.

I am NOT losing sleep. Never slept better. But I do hope Indiana gets going soon.....

If Marshall ever left, I wonder if Turgeon would be a candidate to come coach at this level. He might be looking for a step up from where he is now...

Besides the money was great. I'm not sure he would have taken another college job but would have instead chosen to start rebuilding at Butler.
Butler's a smart dude. He was in a win-win situation taking the Boston job. He's getting paid big time, and even if it doesn't work out for him, he'll end up getting a big time high major job in the college ranks when he comes back. Life is good for him.

I'm not worried. Butler had good runs, they were never like this.
Not to change the subject, but those are the same type of comments the BCS'ers make about WSU.

Butler has a good basketball history. They statrted playing in 1896. From 1920-1970 they only had 11 losing seasons, and had a record of 680-440. They also won the AAU National Championship in 1924. The 70's and 80's were really bad, 222-293, but from 1989-2013 they had a record of 517-250. To say "Butler had good runs, they were never like this"; during Brad Stevens six seasons their record was 166-49 with five NCAA Tournaments where they went 12-5 and played in two National Championship games.

              That's a nice basketball history.
"Hank Iba decided he wouldn't play my team anymore. He told me that if he tried to get his team ready to play me, it would upset his team the rest of the season." Gene Johnson, WU Basketball coach, 1928-1933.

but they never really dominated the season like this

Few teams in college basketball history have. We've never been to back to back national championships yet. I don't like it when people disrespect the shockers so I'm not going to turn around and so the same to other teams.

I'm not disrespecting anyone. I'm just saying that the two programs are different

This is too broad a question to answer simply; truth is, CBB is a different animal than when Turgeon left. Each coach recruits to his style; a particular school leads itself to a specific type of recruit. Therefore, good coaches have to match their style to their school's recruiting possibilities. That's why the ceiling is different for Turgeon than it was for Fogler than it is for Marshall. Butler... totally different school. That said, I cannot imagine a better fit for Marshall and his style than WSU; there may be some just as good, that perhaps could "offer" more, but it isn't obvious to me. Pro? No... I don't see it. I'm a STH for the Trailblazers; his style doesn't fit well with the association.

I guess I should clarify; it's not that I think Marshall COULDN'T coach in the pros; it's more that his skills would not play well with the situation in the NBA (primadonnas, outside commitments of athletes, salary caps, trades, etc.) Think Boeheim and his zone defense; coach with many skills at a pro level, but his style isn't gonna support a long coaching career in the NBA.
