Shocker Scoring by difference in score

I've always had the sense that Cotton just makes big plays at big times. This isn'tnecessarily the way to validate that sense or feeling, but it is somewhat of a beginning. Cotton seems to not look to score when WSU is slightly ahead. I was surprised by Coleby's numbers.

One thing that shows is that we're tied or behind half the time. I would like that number to start trending down as we get closer to March.

Am I interpreting that 50.2% number correctly?

I'd be most interested in points per minute broken down this way. That'd be a clearer, normalized way to say if someone scores more when we're losing, close, or winning. I am lazy so I will do no more that submit the request.

That would give you "efficiency ofscoring"when behind,close,etc. This indicates that 61.7% of Cotton's points come when we're tied or behind; 3.3% when the lead is within 5, etc. Maybe what you're daying is, does he play more when we're behind than when we have a small lead. I'm not even sure how to calculate "per minute broken down this way."

You'd look at minutes played when the score is in a certain range, and points scored during those minutes. That's how you control for the fact that some guys only play when we're ahead.

Yeah, that would be an massive undertaking. I think that this shows the guys with small numbers in the first three columns and greater numbers in the final column are as you described. The primary objective of me doing this was to get a feel for Mr. Cotton as compared to the other "regulars" who, quite obviously, play throughout the game, although maybe not so much in the fourth column. I'm personally belive that doing the minute-by-minute, score-by-score breakdown would show much, if anything, different, except, as I stated before, efficiency during certain periods.
